Both front door inner handles have peeling outer plastic. This reminded me of an old Golf. BMW only sell complete door trim panels to cure this.

Instead I bought Chinese replacements, handle only. They work a treat and are simple plastic rather than plastic with a coating. I did the n/s/f today,

Just got the driver’s one to do now. I’m still on my Cross Climates. They are horrible. Noisy, poor grip, floaty at speed and poor turn in. I hope it snows and they are good in the snow.
I did exactly the same to mine - horrid sticky rubberised coating that ages very poorly. Funnily enough my driver's side one was OK, maybe as it's a different design that's integrated with the controls for the windows etc. It'll be interesting to see how yours turns out on the driver's side, in terms of matching the window switches etc.

I can see the appeal in the rubberised coating on a brand new car, but the uncoated plastic does the job perfectly well and is far better than old degraded rubberised coating.

The driver’s side replacement comes with a new switch panel cover too so should all match. I’m pleased with the pass. side.

Sounds good. Maybe I’ll do the driver’s side too, it’ll almost certainly be an improvement over the original one which has a few scratches.

I write in the book and sign it too, and keep receipts. Buyers have always been happy with that, and if they aren’t so be it. I’ve never struggled to sell any of my old heaps. smile
I do too; write what’s been done and keep the receipts for the oil, plugs, filters etc and write in them the date and mileage so it all ties up. It’s not been an issue on the last few cars I’ve sold.

They look loads better. Any chance of links? Those soft touch plastics wear really badly. I’m tempted to remove it in places where it’s peeling and can’t easily be replaced.

I'll definitely look into that driver's side. For others thinking of doing this, make sure you measure the length on the driver's side as there are two different sizes. I'm not sure whether the size difference is E90/E91 vs E92/E93 or if it's a pre/post-LCI change.

I bought mine from Ali Express as I didn't know they were on eBay, loads of sellers on AE, probably all made in the same factory. I'd imagine the eBay ones are the same, although you'll certainly receive them quicker from eBay.

Just checked and I’ve bought the wrong one for the driver’s side! Probably LCI cost cutting. Mine is shorter.

That's annoying. Hopefully the seller will let you exchange without any hassle.

The only reason I know of the difference is because there were two sizes listed on Ali Express and no indication as to what drives the size difference. I measured mine at the time but as I didn't end up buying the driver's side I don't recall whether it was the shorter or longer size.

I’ll probably just re list the longer one on eBay. I’ve bought a complete used door trim panel for the drivers side as I can’t find the insert I need.

I couldn’t find a matching shorter driver’s side insert so bought a mint used complete panel:

I may change the switch panel. If anyone is wants the longer insert (pictured) without the switch panel send me a pm with an offer.

I spotted a local BMW fan had an E9x M3 DCT steering wheel for sale. I already have a custom steering wheel. Standard M Sport wheel retrimmed in slimmer nappa with an Individual trim.
The paddles are also rewired-left down, right up. The wheel is great. I decided the M3 wheel was better, simply because it’s M3 so must be better?!
I bought the M3 wheel. It’s in nearly new condition. I swopped my Individual trim over. The wheel is plug and play. It feels very similar to my retrimmed nappa one, just slightly thicker. One retrimmed wheel with an M3 trim for sale soon.
