Great thread J4CKO!
How have you found the Bilstein's over the past year? Thinking of getting some for mine, had a 2016 ST3 CP1 on Mountune springs which took some of the edge of the firmness, but still was tiresome and eventually sold it in 2020. Bought a bone stock 65 plate ST3 with 85k earlier in the year as I missed it laugh The suspension is softer than what I remembered but still jiggly and unnecessarily firm, hence looking into Bilsteins

Yeah, I am impressed, be under no illusions its still a firm car but even my wife (who hates it) noticed it was less horrible than before.

Sorting the ride made enough difference that it doesnt get on my tits, its firm but not as harsh and rough.

Still loving it, I will get something else for longer journeys, but its staying.

Just ordered one of these for it for Christmas,

Not sure why, just thought it looked cool.

I rate my Lufi gauge highly and to install it in the fiesta, no holes are needed. Just remove the drivers A pillar trim and feed the cable up through the dash

Cheers Tom, will do, purchase has been intercepted and is apparently now my Christmas present.

So, what that entails is I probably still pay for it, but upon arrival it will be spirited away for three weeks, and presented to me on the 25th of December.

Yep, I dont get it either !

Also, noticed it feels noticeably sharper in the colder weather, I know thats a thing but seems to really suit it.

Nice to see this still going strong!

Said I wouldn't go back to a Fiesta ST after my old one was stolen but I pick my MK7 up on Thursday next week! Disklok/steering lock, tracker and viper 106v immobiliser will hopefully keep it safe this time.

Hah, what made you come back, and what from ?

Only changes with mine is a Lufi XS gauge, which is a little gadget that displays various parameters, such as a better idea of what the water temp is compared to the three segment thing on the instruments. Its got a 0-60 function so may try that when the weather is better.

Going to get something else this year all being well, but its staying as I know I would miss it like mad if I got rid but I fancy something wafty as well.

Was coming back from my brothers the other night and the roads were clear, had an Insignia of all things attach itself to my bumper, it looked sporty-ish (as Insignias go, think it was a VXR one) wasnt really in the mood but thought sod it, was dry so gave it everything and it stayed there briefly then went backwards biggrin

Suppose being 600 kilos heavier and similar power, thats kind of what you would expect ?

Started using my Clio 182 in the meantime whilst I figured out what I wanted next. Was looking at Golf GTIs, Golf Rs, Merc A class and a couple of others but they were all about double the price of the Fiesta which I couldn't really justify with the economy being as it is atm. In the end was offered a Fiesta ST local to me, I knew the history of it, it's pretty mint, hasn't been thrashed and it was a decent price so decided to take the plunge and beef up the security this time.

I lived with the Clio for about 5 months and that was all I could stomach, great little car but as a daily driver I wanted modern, fairly comfortable and reasonably quiet. No DAB radio, the AM/FM radio has a crap signal, no heated seats, no heated front windscreen, not bluetooth for phonecalls radio and a few other things as well. Best bit about the Fiesta is the heated windscreens, not more sitting waiting for 10 mins for it to defrost.

I'm on all the Fiesta ST pages and the amount being stolen is ridiculous, so I may have said this previously but definitely look at some security, steering lock/disklok at minimum, ideally you want a Viper 106v as well. You always think it won't happen to you but if it does you're absolutely devastated, I know I was and you've done a hell of a lot more to yours than I had to mine.

It can run away with you the modding thing, still love it, only problem is the wife sits in it largely like she is at the dentists biggrin So we use her car but I fancy something comfier to go with it, definitely doing a track day this year as well, still need to get the geometry done, need to get that booked in.

Mine has a Viper 106v on it, tend to rely on that, not bothered with a steering wheel lock for a while but never heard of one going with one on, few other little measures on it as well to make life more difficult, lus there is a blue one across the road that has never had any additional security so think that one would go first, saying that, not seen it for a bit....I did warn him to be vigilant.

They do strike a fine balance between old school hot hatch fun, size/weight, modernity and performance, the heated seats and windscreen are very good like you say, its got enough kit without adding loads of weight or anything unnecessary.

Have booked it in for a Hunter alignment at a company called ABP in Crewe so got a day booked off, it’s had new arms, springs, camber bolts and struts but not been aligned so suspect it’s all over the place.

Looking for a set of standard wheels, but most are overpriced crap with bald ditchfinders on, hopefully can find some pristine ones and will put a new set of tyres on them and swap them with mine, got two galleons on the back which are fine but the PS4s are getting down to 3/4 mm.

Any tips on what to get ? PS5 is the obvious choice but a lot rate the Uniroyal rain sport 5s, which are a fair chunk cheaper, not bothered about a few quid per tyre but equally not bothered about what brand if they are any good.

Will keep the old ones as spares, maybe with some track day tyres on.

It’s now on 16” wheels with Vredestein winter tyres.

Notice a big difference with the PS5 ?

As usual, new tyres are fitted on the rear. PS4 are 6 months or so older than the 5s.
I couldn’t tell you if there’s any difference between PS4 or 5, even against the OE Bridgestones they replaced.

Picked the new wheels up, really good condition, ended up paying £350, one needs a new TPMS sensor so will sort than then order some tyres. Probably going to go with Uniroyal Rainsport 5's as get a good review of the ST owners and a bit cheaper, this little job will be into £800, plus the alignment next week, could have got away with a couple of tyres for £200 ish.

I run Goodyear Asym 6 on my car - performed much better than the PS4s it had on when I collected!

Cheers, were they pretty old/worn ?

Probably not a fair comparison if they were on the wear limit and say three years old.

But will look at the prices and include that as an option, really need a circuit and a set of about six different candidates to try in the wet and the dry, plus say a day each on the road to get a feel of comparable new tyres.

Bought a set of eBay special TPMS sensors, will change them over before the tyres are fitted.

They were 2 - 2 1/2 years old when I picked the car up with plenty of tread on them but they had a good bit of cracking on the sidewalls. Once I got a punctured one in March 22 I replaced the whole set and the car transformed, rode better, quieter and much grippier. Have done a trackday on the Goodyears too and they held up really well.

I think PS5 are cheaper than PS4 but I'd suggest PS5, Goodyear Asym 6, Uniroyals popular on forums/FB.

Can you let me know how the alignment goes? I'm Manchester based but need a fast road geo doing on my car. Was thinking suspension secrets in knutsford but it's ways good to get feedback from other places!

Yeah, will update the thread when its done on Tuesday, its had some much messed with since it was new its probably way out so hoping it makes a good difference.

Ordered some new "ST" centre caps for my new wheels, will order some new tyres soon, just need to have the TPMS sensors in and ready and will organise it. Pretty sure will go for the Rainsport 5s, like the idea of having the best wet performance.

It desperately needs a clean, but I quite like it looking filthy.

Alignment done and a new set of genuine Ford mats, I ordered the mats when I decided the old ones looked manky, then set to on the old ones which came up really well using the dog grooming brush to get all the bits out, but had spent £40 by then.

Alignment done today at ABP in Crewe, the Camber and the castor were fine, I had eyeballed both so was amazed when the chap said they were spot on, 1.5 degrees neg on the front which he said is a good fast road/track setting.

The toe was way out as its been lowered, this is typical and it was toeing in quite badly so he set it to a slight toe out which helps apparently.

Can definitely feel a difference, seems to turn in a bit better and its not shuffling the power as much, cost £110, was worth it for the improvement and the peace of mind, will be booking my first track day soon when I get the new tyres sorted.

I have just brought a Fiesta ST and I am loving this thread as much as the car!

JACKO thanks for the updates and information on your car - they are very helpful and enjoyable to read (I am currently up to page 13 of the thread).

The first change I will do is buy the quickshifter you brought and then fit it myself: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193716905377

I wanted to ask the following two questions:
1) In regards to oil and air filters - should they be original Ford items, or will Mann filters be fine? I used Mann on BMW's for many years without issues and get them easily fro ECP.
2) My car does have additional security measures specific to ST, but I am after a physical deterrent too. Should I buy a Stoplock Pro or Disclok?

Sorry to hijack the thread, and looking forward to reading your continued updates.
