1990 Aston Martin Virage
Discussion
Looking forward to reading more on this.. I was working in Aston Martin Works Service when this Virage was made, and they were all processed through here when new.. Will be interested to know if it's always been In Australia since new, or whether it was exported as a used example later.. Anyway, good luck and I hope it turns out to be the Aston for you...!
So… I have the car.
Slightly exhausted as I didn’t sleep well in my hotel room last night. I will just post my initial impressions. The car has done 62,000 miles and was UK delivered. It has been in Australia since 2014 and owned by the seller since it arrived here.
POSITIVE:
The seller seemed a pretty honest bloke. The car is as the seller described (certainly not perfect but seems very good).
It drives better than I was expecting. Way more modern and refined than the previous Aston V8. It rides well, handles well, and the steering is great. It tends to shrink around you the way a good GT should.
Surprisingly refined. Very little wind noise.
Air conditioning has been serviced and works well. Nearly all of the electrics seem to work (see below).
NEGATIVE:
Not too much so far. No books and limited history. Needs a good detail and the front bumper repainted. Interior is a little grubby.
Due for a service and some tlc.
The tyres are Indonesian made ditch finders that are the wrong size. This would be due to the fact that the correct Avon tyres are extortionately expensive.
The period Alpine stereo works only on the rear speakers. It also provides some extra excitement by emitting a deafening screeching noise at random intervals.
Tomorrow I start my long drive back to Sydney… Photos soon

Fabulous!!!!! Absolutely magnificent.
The interior looks great in the dealer pics. Are the old?
Regarding tyres, are these 255/55/17? If so, there is a Michelin Latitude Sport 3 that is available (at least here in Europe) for less half the price of the Avon. Only thing: it is V rated (240 km/h) instead of W (270 km/h) like the Avon.
Should be the much more modern rubber at a reasonable cost.
Do enjoy your trip back and make sure to post more photographs!

Unfortunately no. They are 255/60/16. I believe only Avon make that size.
I just checked. Wow. You are right. such an odd tyre size and my 5 minutes research didn't bring anything up that is even remotely close in size Unfortunately no. They are 255/60/16. I believe only Avon make that size.
And the price for the Avon really is, well Aston-Martin-like
Wow, I didn't know these were made with such a mish-mash of parts!
It's still a lovely thing, OP.

I had one of those for about a year, same colours as yours. Lovely car, but very thirsty! I averaged about 12 mpg. I would love another one.
As this was a Uk car, could it have been yours?Joining in to live vicariously through your experience.
I seriously wish I had bought one of these when they were £25k.
I have driven a few and they are great cars. One of my all time favourite Aston Martins. A2TGN used to live near me in Somerset, that was a red Virage.
Excellent find.

I think the tail lights are Mk II Scirocco, and the headlights are Audi 200. The column stalks are Vauxhall/Opel, the power seat switches are Audi, the climate control is Jaguar XJ40, and the vents and rest of the dash is Ford!
Ah Scirocco, I was close! Bonus points if you can tell us where the front indicators are from! (I've no idea!)These have aged really well. I remember when they were launched and thinking how much I preferred the previous model. Now I see them and would love one. It’s also nice to see an early one, from before they started messing about with them.
I am also now waiting with baited breath for someone to tell us what the front indicator were usually fitted to, they are about the only bit that I cannot place. I am going to guess at something commercial.
Have a safe and trouble free journey back.
