I moved this car yesterday and saw lots of mist inside as usual which was annoying. I decided to get dry it off so got out my chamois. When I went round and opened the passenger door I found a pool of water in the little cut out on the sill for the umbrella. I had a feel around and found some damp on the roof near the sun visor. So I think it is coming in between the hard top and the top of the wind screen.
Then today I found the bottom of the door card is damp so I am going to check the membrane first.
Now I have damp on driver side door card too. Still can't decide if drips I see from around Sun visor area are just general condensation or it's coming in the hardtop. Then today I found the bottom of the door card is damp so I am going to check the membrane first.
Some of the lads on the boxa owners club recommended I check for the grommets in place and these were missing. I believe it is number 8 in the diagram. So basically there are 2 pins - one on either side - which locate the roof to the car. These pins or tabs should have a rubber or plastic type cover or cap as Porsche call it. I've ordered a couple of these anyway as I'm fairly certain mine doesn't have them and they only cost £1.92 plus VAT.

I've got a ticket from Birmingham for driving through their clean air zone in this car. I assumed it was exempt because it is ULEZ. But they have still sent me a fine.
My car is now listed as ULEZ exempt in London and the rest of the country which uses a different system.DVLA Person said:
Dear ATM
Thank you for your enquiry received on 05/01/2022. Your case reference number is Case Number Removed.
From the information available on your DVLA vehicle record, I can see that your vehicle was first registered in June 2001 and does not have a confirmed Euro status on record. The Drive in a Clean Air Zone service, in the absence of a confirmed Euro status, considers the Date of First Registration of your vehicle and the emissions values recorded at registration to determine whether it likely meets the Euro 4 minimum emissions standard for Clean Air Zones.
Based on the information available on your vehicles DVLA record and the information you have provided to support the emissions values for your vehicle indicates that your vehicle does meet the Euro 4 emissions standard, and your vehicle will not be chargeable to drive, into, or within, the Clean Air Zone.
I have requested for your record to be updated to reflect this.
This will be updated within 2 working days. Please check back on the Vehicle Checker before your next journey into or within the Clean Air Zone.
Please be aware, if you intend to drive into or within the zone before this has been updated, you will still need to pay for the journey. Local Authorities are responsible for all charging orders and refunds, if you have received a PCN, you should follow the instructions on the letter to complete a representation and use our email response as evidence of compliance.
If you have already paid a charge you will need to contact the Local Authority and ask for a refund.

Interesting read.
Looks like I might have the same issue regarding ULEZ. Just checked my 2000 986s and it seems they’d charge me to take it inside the zone. I’ll dig out the V5 and compare it to the chassis number.
I doubt you need to check the chassis numbers. Surely DVLA can't get everyone's wrong. Instead I'd send an email first to Porsche asking for the Certificate of Conformity. Trust me - mine is as over the top as you could possibly imagine. I mean you could go louder if you're a real idiot. But as loud as it is you do find yourself thinking ok that's a bit loud more often than thinking that sounds good. That's my opinion anyway.
I'd prefer a more measured sound or maybe switchable but for now this is what I have.
I do occasionally get thoughts about going back to standard to try and keep the car as original as poss. And the little tail pipes on mine don't look right in that cut out - not to my eyes.
The bad news is I still don't really fit in the car. So every time I drive it I find myself thinking the same thing. The 987 seats are definitely an improvement over 986 but my knees are always hitting the wheel.
Maybe I need to invest some energy into trying different seats. I could try the Pole Position out of my other car and see if that makes it better.
Battery was flat this morning. I had to get spare battery and jump leads attached to the fuse box to pop the bonnet. Then I fixed the jump leads to the main battery to get the car to start. I was cursing the little LiFePo4 battery I am still using for letting me down. I didnt notice the bonging noise coming from the dash as I fired it up. Then as I was disconnecting the jump leads I spotted the side lights were on. Oops.
