2003 Cayenne S - £4k bargain or Bork bus of pain?
Discussion
Excellent news that this thing is starting to repay some of the money you've spent.
On the point about coilovers, I've never tried them on a Cayenne, but I would really struggle to believe that a set of shocks made in China and sold for a few hundred quid would be anywhere near the comfort levels of air suspension. Having driven a Cayenne with air, I was very impressed at the comfort levels. Having owned BC Racing coilovers on a different car, I'd advise absolutely not going down this route.
Why not just replace the shocks with one of the plethora of OEM options?

C70R - you are probably right, having done the sums, I can get Sachs dampers and Eibach springs with all the boots and top mounts for about £800. I was hoping that I could save some labour by fitting them myself if I didn't have to compress the springs, but that might be a false economy.
Oil results came back, looking good for wear metals, although, as usual fuel dilution is 2%, so well due a change. Anybody going to 10k or more (20 was the original schedule) is going to get so much more wear. High Mo and B are from the Ceratec.

As long as you're prepared to immediately spend £5k on it....
I had a suspension sensor replaced under warranty and I didn't have any lights or even any suggestion that there was anything wrong with it. So it could be a cheap fix. I wouldn't worry about the bodywork at that price. Would need to drive it to see whether it's worth a punt.

I'm amazed that anyone following this thread, still has to ask if a leggy Cayenne with error lights is a yea or a nay
Yeah. I really wanted this thread to confirm that a leggy cayenne was a top idea. It’s tempered my enthusiasm some what. But a bloke in the next street has a 62 plate turbo and it looks good … ATM said:
