First time I have gone, very interesting. Did just over 600 miles yesterday in total.

Mobile mechanic booked for the 18th July to replace the rear shock absorbers, then the MOT and service will get done at the end of the month.

Here's a photo of Flying Scotsman from our ride behind it the other week.

The Focus was on its travels again on Saturday, this time to Temple Newsam Hall and Farm near Leeds, really nice place and well worth a visit

A nice man is coming on the 18th to change the rear shock absorbers for me in exchange for some monies. I need to get the MOT and service booked for the end of the month as well.

Looks like a cool place! - And only 400 miles away, easy trip!

Hope your shocks are not too shocking!

How are your brakes doing? - I am struggling with mine rusting the disc, and then overheating due to reduced braking surface.

Shock absorbers are about £200 to replace including labour, VAT etc. Brakes are fine as far as I know, sorry to hear you are having trouble with your brakes.

Do you leave the car for long periods of time without driving it?
And, are they OEM discs and pads?
I'm running Mintex discs and pads and I don't have any issues.

Thats better than expected! - fingers crossed they don't find any more issues when doing it.

OEM front, OEM discs on the rear with Pagid pads.
Car is lucky if it ever gets 2 days of rest, and with SWMBO driving it the brakes get used hard.

Thank you, will look up some Mintex sets and do some more reading!

Thanks Bobbers, the only issue I might have is the windscreen, there are some scratches on it from the wipers, they were there at the last MOT and it got through OK with them being mentioned but it's hard to judge if they have got worse

Fingers crossed!!

I have found a good polishing and a good dose of rainx reduces scratch marks (unfortunately only temporarily), might be worth a shot the weekend before your mot..

You could try using a glass polish, that might help enough for the mot
