Still nothing to report other than exemplary service.

3000 miles.
31.4mpg average since I bought it.

Here in it’s natural habitat, the Quantock hills, not West London.

Nice. Although you’ll not be popular around here by suggesting LR products can be reliable. Everyone knows they are rubbish, especially the people who’ve never owned one. Besides, who needs a 4x4 when a superior German estate car is what you should really be driving! biggrin

Stick Legs, great looking car, love the nerdy collecting you're doing around associated paraphernalia.

You're not helping my desire to get one of these, my neighbor has a FFRR on 1 62 plate, your model, and has had no issues at all.

I chickened out and saved a load of money and bought an old Lexus RX, but this is tempting me away.

Great thread Stick Legs. They are a lovely thing. I’ve ordered a new Defender and now have the long wait. I do question my decision every time I use the RRS. They are just great places to be. I would recommend the LR Experience at Eastnor as it really shows what your car can do.

First issue!

250 mile drive the other day, no issues at all on the journey and it did 35mpg round trip, Southampton and back via the coast road.

Left overnight, went to start the next morning, 'Low Coolant'.

Check header tank, empty, added 1.2 litres of coolant mix and ran with the header cap off until the thermostat opened.
level fine.

No water under the car or in the engine bay I can see.

Car runs fine.

Will keep tabs on it and let you all know. I've posted on FFRR as well in case it's a 'known' symptom.

I hope it is either a nothing issue that will not re-occur, or something massive with a genuine smoking gun that the warranty will cover.

What's the betting that it's something in the middle.

Update:

Cooling system is using a little, about half a mug every 500 miles.
Occasional smell of coolant when stuck in traffic.
No visible leak anywhere.

Have got an excellent response from the supplying garage & it’s going to be booked into my local indy (County Rovers) for a look as soon as my wife’s Mercedes EQC turns up.

Still love it to bits, and the specialness of it doesn’t wear off with familiarity.

If it’s the oil cooler or it’s seal the leak is often tiny and due to the warm location evaporates.

Just to say....loving the FFRR updates. I've had a few narrow misses this last month when trying to buy one. Good examples, in good spec seem to be moving quickly, even at the relatively high prices at present. I've concluded I may be best waiting until a few trade ins start to arrive as owners move to the new model. That's the theory anyway, we'll see !

Meanwhile, to those that have one, enjoy...!

As a question to those that may know both pre 17 model and 17 model years....I've been advised to go for the updated model 17 due to the info / sat nav system. What's the opinion, does it make much difference, is it worth the uplift as most of the rest of the car seems to be identical. By the way, I don't mean the 18 model year onwards with the new screens, I'm not a fan of the exterior changes.

Mine has the early screen and after years of 2010 onwards iDrive it's archaic.

However you can get an apple car play update done by these people which will be happening later this year:

The later system is better but still not as good as carplay / android auto and when you can get the carplay install for about £500 I wouldn't pay the premium just for that.

Thanks for that, had a look, looks a great solution. Would that essentially give the same functionality (or better ?) as the 17 model year standard system ?

I've been in a 19 plate and that did have more features, or at least is more seamless with a wider / better screen, this is essentially a bolt on.
All your other standard c.2007 tech bits work as normal, then you press Nav and get the carplay screen.
Carplay works as it does in anything else.

Still a good 2015 RR plus this is tens of thousands cheaper than a later RR so pays-money-takes-choice.

Seems a few of us have been on the hunt recently! I’ve just managed to pick up a 2015 4.4 AB for what I feel is a pretty decent price, there’s plenty about and from the research I’ve done and ones I’ve viewed I’d say put effort into finding one with as few owners as possible! Much easier to trace the history and east to tell if it’s been run on a shoestring. Happy hunting I’ll be positing a readers car next week hopefully.

For those that have bought recently, have you bothered / thought about a warranty ? I was leaning to main dealer for that reason and trying to push for 2 years, not 1, or at least the second year at cost price. However, the main dealer cars do command quite a premium, so I could scrap that plan, but in the back of my mind is the prospect of relatively worry free with the warranty, Vs take a chance without, or try to source a decent aftermarket warranty ? I'm not averse to repair bills and I'm realistic having had a few more complex motors, but I also just want to 'enjoy' the experience not resent it ! Any thoughts ?
