I’m liking the idea of black, something like this? One of the best looking replicas I’ve seen.
It depends what was also under its skin. Aluminium bodied? All parts, chassis etc matching of the blueprint original?

I think the one in the picture is CSX4133

If it looks anything like that car on the Jay Leno video that will be amazing.

If it was mine I’d be tempted to paint in dark gunmetal grey stripes as a subtle lift.

But whatever, it’s beautiful and solid black looks gorgeous.

Are you going to bin those rear lights after the test?

They are just the IVA bumpers and lights. There are also temporary seats that go in there for the test

Big day today .. after almost 3 years of waiting my aluminium bodied mm perfect toolroom recreation of a 1966 Cobra 427 will be delivered. Unfortunately the DVLA haven't road registered it yet but hopefully soon. It will be painted at the back end of the year in blue. 7.2L side oiler 482 big block ford which should make 580 bhp.

...what a beautiful, wild & beastly animal it is...congratulations...a handbill bespoke car...but not for ancient, cigar-puffing, beer-bellied publicans like most handbuilt cars of a certain brand.

One of my favourite readers cars threads to follow, who doesn’t love a Cobra? What made you you choose Southern Automotive out of all the Cobra engine specialists and have you gone for an aluminium block, if you don’t mind me asking?

Dave Brookes does produce a very good Cobra - as for colours

  • Guardsman Blue
  • Twin White Stripes
  • Single Roll Hoop - Drivers side (Black)
  • Side Pipes (Black)
  • Quick Jacks - Front & Rear (Black)
  • Doors - Race Roundel white
  • Bonnet - Race Roundel

Not sure why it posted the pics twice ....

Desperate to drive it but not road registered.

Very pleased with it is an understatement. Now starts the process of adding the detail to get it period correct.
