Update:

Sent it back to the dealer as there was a screech/noise under braking.

Guess what? It's magically eaten the front and rear discs/pads in 2000miles of driving.

I've just sent the dealer a ****y email asking how discs so obviously f'd were not an advisory, nor identified in the service the day before we picked it up.

Suddenly I remember why I love Lexus as much as I hate Landrover.

Lexus have such impeccable service and make such well built cars that sometimes I wonder why anyone buys anything else for its purpose

I had a garage once pass my MOT with brake pads that 3 months and under 2,000 miles later were back plate to disk. That's in a much lighter car than a Range Rover, too. Swear they take a quick glance and assume it's fine. I suppose when you need to get through the work, short cuts have to be taken somewhere and why not one of, if not the, most important part of a car?

Exactly!

Sorted out now, significant discount + contribution from the sales side.

I think I will drop it in for an MOT at my usual place soon though, just out of interest..

Fixed price discs and pads at MDs - you can see the cost by going through OSH with your VIN.

Make sure you are actually getting a decent discount.

The option to get parts prices doesn't seem to exist any more on the OSH or the LR genuine parts pages.

Go to "Booking A Service" tab, then select "Online service booking".

I have just had a quick browse at a couple and 700 front, 500 rear, pads and discs, seems to be the going rate, give or take a few quid.

Since the new brakes were fitted it's consistently squealed under light braking once warm.

Today I dropped it in at Landrover for their 3rd attempt at curing it.

So far they have tried grease, chamfering the pads, and suggesting it's not being braked hard often enough.

rolleyes

Looks at thread title, remembers why I swore I wouldn't have one... headache

Ours squeals since we towed our horse trailer a few times (ours had brand new discs and pads via Land Rover)

Maybe "they all do that sir"???? I think you could try something like EBC pads but I was always told to change the discs if you change compound (that was on a race 911 though)

There have been some tech bulletins about it - seems to be a know issue since 2014!

Suspect the pad materials have changed for the impact to be so universal.

Still squeals.

I'd love to know how much they've taken off the pads now... had to hit the brakes hard for an e-stop the other day, hard application from over 50mph and not a twitch from the ABS, nothing... didn't stop like I would expect given the size of the anchors.

Can't say for certain the lack of braking effect is related, but it's got me wondering.

Have kicked off at LR-FS but they have told me to FRO and talk to the ombudsman.

Only financed it as I thought I might get a measure of support/back up... turns out I was wrong.

On my one if you jump on the brakes it will go in to emergency stop mode and brake for you, it triggers the abs and puts on the hazards.

Try another one and compare it. Roughly where are you based?

This 100%

I’m in Somerset with a 4.4 V8 Diesel 2015 if you are interested in a comparison.

I think its gentle braking. One of my Jags does this all of the time. My old C63 and an Aston did too.

Though my L405 doesn't at all. But I do give it a good thrashing, every time.

Also it's been really quite dry, that won't help.
