Some background, the LC is a car I’ve lusted after for quite some time. But I couldn’t pull the trigger on getting a petrol car and so bought a new Tesla instead. The ownership of the T has left me cold, the customer service sucks and the car is not what I wanted it to be.
The Tesla was supposed to be the fast kinda practical car that the family could go in, if we wanted. Except the ride is rubbish and the road noise gets annoying after a while. Plus it made them car sick!
So it got me thinking, why have car we don’t get on with? Dangerous thoughts like that led me to the Lexus used site and I saw that LC’s had depreciated enough to get in one without a huge chunk of change required.
The reason for the lack of exuberance was more about approaching it rationally as I wasn’t sure either would work and it’s a big change. Ultimately I decided today that it was likely the last time I would have a V8, so why not?
I'm looking forward to seeing pictures and hearing of your experience of this. I am in a very similar position, bought a Tesla M3 LR 2 years ago, and while it does some things very well, it's been back to fix things about 7 times. I love the efficiency of it, but hopefully my long commute will drop of at some point and I would love to find myself in an LC500.The Tesla was supposed to be the fast kinda practical car that the family could go in, if we wanted. I sat in one at Goodwood FOS a few years ago and just thought "wow". The interior is superb, really next level.
Have fun at pick up. It did make me laugh to hear your experience picking up the Tesla, I had exactly the same and they pointed the car out to me, but it wasn't the correct registration number they had given in (and I had arranged insurance for). They just said, "well that is your car" and left me to call the insurance company to change the details!! Rubbish.

Stunning car!
1,000,000 % this.hah what are the odds?!
Yeah my M3P arrived broken (camera, interior issues, alignment), I think the idea of a Tesla is great - its just the overall execution that is so poor. It took 4/5 visits to get it "as intended".
If a new car purchase (and this was the first time I'd ever bought a new car) starts at 100 points, each time Tesla screws something up it just chips away at that overall score.
Then you have the fanboys, who cannot imagine anything ever wrong "DISRUPTION, FUTURE, THEY ALL DO THAT, YOU'RE JUST MISSING THE SOUND OF THE ENGINE"
Sick of it tbh.

Nice car, I picked my 2018 Sport+ up last Tuesday from Ipswich only had 8K on the clock plus after 5 days of ownership I noticed that the whole front end has had PPF applied.
It a lovely car to be in and to drive however there is so much to learn on how to operate all the functions, I would recommend watching this video, is for a 2020 model but most things are relevant.
I've wanted one since I first saw them on TV but didn't think I would ever get in a position to buy one, things changed and suddenly the window of opportunity came so off I went to find one.

One of only a very small number of 'new' cars I would genuinely like to own (Mustang, ND MX-5, GR Yaris being the others)
Just think they look fantastic, especially on the road, and obviously it has to be the V8. Interesting to hear the sound didn't do much for you, most seem to rave about the noise.
Look forward to more pictures and general ownership tales, a lovely choice

great car. I would love one but would always choose something else at that price point.
O/T Rix - if you don’t want your Yaris, please let me know.

I hear you! Some of the tech and lack of re-fuelling etc is great, but I am not a fanboy, far from it. Mine had paint issues, a badly aligned rear door and scratched wing mirror when it was brand new. Since then, 2 front wheel bearings and 2 efforts to re-align the drivers window due to excessive noise.Yeah my M3P arrived broken (camera, interior issues, alignment), I think the idea of a Tesla is great - its just the overall execution that is so poor. My Land Cruiser which I had for 6 years before that - nothing, nada. Perfect! You will have the same in the LC :-)
I'm considering spending about £50k on a daily car. Must be an automatic because the missus only has an automatic licence.
It's a toss up between an Alfa Romeo Guilia Quadrifoglio (the emotional choice) a BMW i8 (the economical choice) and an LC500 (the reliable choice).
They all look fantastic (in different ways) but are chalk and cheese by every other metric.
I'm genuinely stumped. Just hope the test drives produce a clear cut winner.

Great car OP, I'd like one of these myself, good looking and lusty, a no brainer really, good luck.
Funny that you mentioned the road noise on the model 3, sat in traffic the other day, window down I heard one coming towards me purely through the tyre noise being generated. I'm guessing the LC will be less aggravating in that area.

And I'm here in a glorious industrial estate on the outskirts of Coventry. Drive was uneventful, autopilot was handy, I will miss it a bit. The road noise less so.
The LC 500 has radar cruise and lane keep assist, I've not tested either so will be interesting tomorrow. I think radar cruise will be sufficient in a lot of cases.
