OP, you did the sensible thing & you’ve enjoyed the car & exited before a possible long winter economically. I’m sure your browser history & Autotrader watch list is interesting. Good luck with the new car search & finding a new job thumbup

Thanks, the ring camera caught the car leaving so I have that to treasure

Yes the hunt has already started (I mean does it ever really stop?), I did want a convertible but the misses wasn’t a fan of the rear seat space and I wanted to avoid the issue of not being able to Sue the car with the family.

So the requirements are 4/5 good seats, not too big, not crazy expensive to buy & run but have some character to make up for the loss of the Lexus.

I had the strangest message ever come up on my infotainment screen last night whilst driving home from work, it went something like this;

  • EMERGENCY INCIDENT**
Reports of gunshot on the road ahead

I never saw the message again despite having the phone camera trained on the screen, and no, I didn't come across any gunfire on the way home. - Rural Essex so not a hotbed of gun crime.

Was that a DAB traffic message? very strange. I havent had any come up on the infotainment screen - just messages on the dash related to the windows.

One thing I have noticed and was pretty sure I didnt have this previously is when switching drive modes a screen on the infotainment system shows the drive mode in a flashy graphic - pretty sure that wasnt there before.

I am not finding the infotainment much of an issue tbh - I keep the left section on the media/radio and the right is set to the climate so I can turn on the seats easily enough - its really not that bad?

@LincolnLovin - what protocol did you follow when selling your car - including test drives etc? I was cautious when I sold my C63 privately, didnt meet at the house, refused a test drive, was cautious to the point of paranoid. It didnt help that the guy said he was coming up with his wife and child and meeting him at supermarket car park another guy jumped out. They also wanted to take the car there and then which I hadn't been expecting - it all worked out but my nerves were shot :-)

One comment on the valve controller - it is a shame there is no visible indication of status in the car - I do have to listen to determine the status. C63 had switchable exhaust which had an LED on it but I also could determine the status audibly better in that than the LC.

You sold it to Lexus?

I sold it via motorway to a dealer (non Lexus), which was a pretty easy experience and equivalent to a high trade in price.

Fundamentally I did wonder if a private buyer was going to materialise as most people buy cars on finance these days rather than cash and so selling to a dealer became the only option.

I think lower down the price bracket (10-30k) private buyers are more likely. Luckily my new car is more sensible (and much cheaper) so it won’t encounter the same issues when reselling (I hope).

I’ll be posting a new thread soon but ultimately I think that with the LC I was biting off more than I should have chewed. It’s a great car (if a little too stiffly dampened) but it doesn’t make sense in most house holds. It lends itself far more to those that can build a spare garage hehe:

I’ll always love the LC but seeing it up for sale doesn’t move me.

I've felt the same with a few cars I let go over the years - the only one I truly regretted was an Rx7 non-turbo!
