Hi Rob,

I did message you about your car but have since bought a 2011 4.4 TDV8 after reading your thread and Michael's with his petrol FFRR. Very pleased with it so far. Please let us know if you have sold it on or if this thread is continuing please, lots of great info on here.

Did you manage to sell this in the end? I'm in the market.

Still here and still going strong! The four month overlap with L405 confirms we’ll stick with that as the family car* and sell the L322 soon.

*even though I prefer the L322

I'm not surprised tbh....

Since forever I have been looking at L322 and I love them. Bought a P38 and then a RRC to scratch that FFRR itch. New plan is to reduce the amount of cars and to get an L322. The idea was to have something that is borderline classic with modern usability, but after having driven two different ones lately (facelift 3.6 and 5.0 S/C) I think I will end up with an L405 afterall.

They simply are a much nicer everyday car and coming from a Volvo V90 T8 with all the toys, the L322 feels more agricultural than I would have thought. Also prices for the L405 have come down massively lately, while the few good L322 around have, if anything, risen (here in Switzerland).
Also the size difference and manoeuvrability (I told the wife the L322 would be a smaller and easier car to drive hehe ) are negligible or not there at all.

I will re read your L405 readers car thread. Keep the interesting post coming!

Interesting observations. I find the L405 too much like any other car to drive and lacking character. It does everything better than the L322, but just doesn't have the sense of occasion or character of the L322.

And as for looks, well...

I think you’ve summed it up very well TurboRob.

I agree, which is why I’m perfectly happy with my L494 daily driver, BUT cannot part with my 2004 L322 4.4 petrol on 211,000 miles. I can’t face parting with it so It’s in storage whilst I’m running my son and daughters cars for them, but as soon as those cars go, the L322 will be coming back.
