What was your issue with the light strip and what have you ordered? I've got a failed one passenger side rear.
It seems the actual clear light tube has snapped off the light source near the electrical connector.

Damn that really works - I can see that really lifts the interior

I've nver been a fan of DKR interiors until I got an SLK with one - it grew on me really quickly and I'd definitely have another rather than grey, cream or another light colour if I couldn't find a car with black biggrin

DPD also dropped off a couple of goodies too….

I’m not going to charge into getting the intercooler fitted yet until I know where I am with the engine. The remap is also temporarily on hold.
Slippery slope here we go biggrin

Is it an MTC cooler? Looks the same as what I’ve just bought.

Think they’re all made in the same factory. Exactly the same as my MTC one. Same number and configuration of bars/plates.

Fingers crossed on the trip to Holyhead mate!

And that new interior looks great. Never been a fan of a red interior, but that just lifts the cabin something else .. bravo.

If it turns out you don’t need to spend an arm and a leg on cam ledges, can you get a manual gearbox instead?????
I’ve not really thought about that to be honest. Plus the boss has told me not to waste the money saved on the repair with more car mod! I think we need to have words! laugh
Waste?
Clearly, money not spent on repairs becomes spare/free money only able to be spent on the car.

The breakers yard broke the white connector in the end of the black plug that contains the LED. I might have made it a tad worse by fiddling….

The black plug is luckily easy to get hold of. There are loads on eBay. I paid a fiver for a replacement.

What I discovered the hard way is that the black plug is dead easy to remove if you’re careful. Use a pick tool to lift one of these tabs and it just wiggles off.

The clear light conductors are really fragile.

They have little teeth in the back so slide in but not out and at the end there is a little tab locking it in place.

The teeth lock against these on the black trim.

Should be easy enough to replace with the cards off. Tyw conductor was £11 from BMW.

Very probably. They all look the same and cost about the same too!

Have you fitted yours yet?

Thanks. I’ve got new plugs and coils to fit at some point this weekend too. The plugs haven’t been done for a while and I’d like to know they’re 100%. Eldor coils seem to be the popular choice especially if more power is on the cards.

I’m a big fan of red leather in cars, especially German cars whose interiors are often a bit dour and black.

Next week, hopefully. It’s at the body shop now sorting a few bits out. MOT ran out while it’s been in there so waiting to hear what day to collect so I can book the MOT and drive straight there. Once that’s done, it’s in for fitting and a big service. All fluids, filters and then a remap.

Exactly! I think it’s fair to say that we see car expenditure differently. laugh

Perfect, thanks. I have about an inch of the light tube stuck inside the black connector. I assumed it was all one piece, but now I'm thinking of I can get the damaged bit out, I will just need the light tube, or maybe even be able to push the black bit on to what's left.

Oh, and it was mentioned earlier in the thread but you didn't want to risk the warranty... Now you know the warranty is crap, maybe reconsider xhp software for the gearbox?

You should be able to get the stuck bit out of the black connector. You might need to pry up both tabs folding it in place.

Eldors & 2-step colder NGK on mine. Just make sure you set the plug gaps nicely.

Most definitely! Obviously I need to see how it’s running first and if it keeps going into limp mode.

It’s booked in for a walnut blast and to have the oil cooler / filter housing gaskets changed at the end of the month. The gearbox has been serviced so most of the maintenance bits will be done in preparation for mapping.
