Few more jobs Ickes off this morning….I took the car for a walnut blast. I figured that it would be er have been done. The place who did it sent me a few pictures….

Before

And after

Whilst the manifold was off, they replaced the oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets because the latter was weeping slightly. They also fitted and coded the used injector that I bought to replace my leaking one on cylinder six.

I’ve not driven it too far, but so far so good.

Any reason as to why they're so coked up Sam?

Looks a superb job either way; you'll get better power & economy from that won't you?

Part of the joys of direct injection; there isn’t any fuel washing over the valves to clean the ste off.

Hopefully. I’ll see how it behaves tomorrow when I go into the office.

PMP in Nuneaton. The walnut blast was £250.

I'm glad that the troubles seem to be heading behind you. Seems you dodged a bullet on the cam ledges!

Thanks - it looks that way. Very strange, but it's running well and the new (used) injector seems to have made a decent difference to how the car starts.

Long may this run continue!

Did you locate an injector Sam? I've got 6 spare index 9s I removed from my car when I upgraded them to the index 12s.

They were a lot cheaper then!

I did, but I could be interested in a coupe of yours to replace some old index 5 ones that it’s still running.

The 12’s weee cheap at one point; I found an old ML Performance link when they were £147 each!

I don't think I even paid that much to be honest. It was a good 2 or 3 years ago now though, maybe more.

I only changed them because I went for a stage 2 tune and I wanted everything to be as up together as possible.

Drop me a PM...

One of the things that I’ve never been completely satisfied with was the alignment on my car, even after the suspension was upgraded last August. Having decided that the car was sticking around, I got it booked in to String Theory for a properly good alignment. They did a great job on my 130i and because I was so happy with those settings, they’ve replicated them on my 335i.

I can’t recommend them enough to be fair; they’re all BMW fanboys so we end up chatting about BMW’s and they do a really good job at what feels like sensible money.

I’m really pleased with how it’s driving.

The other thing that finally got sorted today was the wheel wobble at motorway speeds. I’d half wondered if it was the spacers but after chatting to Ben at String Theory they arranged for me to pop to Stratford Tyres to have the front wheels rebalanced. Certainly not cheap compared to what some charge, but they’ve done what feels like a really good job. Apparently the old weights were way out. I arrived and parked next to this….

Great news and great progress Sam. I’m very, very sorry but I do think it looks fantastic without the bike rack

It does look better without it but since it lugs bikes around lots, it’s on there a lot.

Car looking great on the ramp! Can you share your alignment spec?

I'll being going in to get my alignment checked after I have new tyres fitted. This will be the first alignment after the spacers were fitted on the rear and the suspension has been bedding in after the initial alignment for about 1k miles now.

Thanks. This is what I was sent by String Theory.

What a difference that walnut blasting made.. seems a bargain for the price.

Great that it’s running/driving well after the last couple of tweaks with the injector/geometry too. When do you think the power upgrade stuff will get fitted and loaded up?
