epic build mate! Just read the whole thing through, I had seen you had a nomad. Didn't know it was a turbo
Hopefully cross paths again one day..

wheres the busa nowdays?
Thanks! I swapped the Busa for the Ultima GTR, so it ended up in Nottingham somewhere. Not seen or heard about it since, which was about 2018. Are you still sprinting?

Love this. It's almost an adult evolution of our Tamiya RC buggies we may have had when at school
Thanks! They do, especially from the Ariel view with the whip lights on bounce

Great find on the wheels. The spokes look VERY close to the callipers on the front - I wonder if you will get gravel trapped and scratch the callipers?
I have seen this happen a lot with the racers - to the point a big rock will just completely wipe out or bend a caliper out of shape - on our rears where the calipers are fairly close, we just have some scrapers made out of old flexy mudguard material a little before the calipers, to try to knock anything big inwards and clear.

Might be worth thinking about here.
Will look into it, but how would a big rock even get in there? There is so little space it would just bounce off. I've had them on for about 2-3 months now and plenty of gravel tracks etc and not had an issue... Yet...

I do not think it is the big rocks that I would worry about, it is the small - close to tolerance stones that COULD maybe get stuck between the disc and wheel...I suspect the alloy wheel is the softest and would just score with no ill effects. I had a stone caught between brake pad and disc before and it made a terrible sound and scored the pad....no real long term problems.

It's also getting pretty cold driving it at the moment, so I invested in a onesie.

I found someone local selling a new with tags offshore riggers suit.. for £20!!! It was XXL so fitted me perfectly at 6'4". A rare find indeed. It is ridiculously good at keeping heat in and wind out, and has made winter driving a pleasure.

Just need to find some better gloves now

Managed it in mine at Walters, though my wheels are much more open.

A rally driving friend of mine mentioned scrubbers / scrapers regards this but I will have to look into what they look like or where to put them

They go inside of the wheel drum and spin around with it, get stuck between a spoke and caliper and something has to move.
Happens more than you'd imagine when it's muddy, not so bad when it's dry as stuff tends to just bounce out as you say.

It's a common thing for rally and especially off roaders:

It's one of those things, you hopefully never need it and just get away with it. The minute you don't it can make a mess as above. Gets much worse if it's tight clearance and between a spoke and the caliper though.

Yikes! If you find some good ones then let me know, and vice versa. Some nice ideas here

OK thanks, I'll look into it more seriously. Much appreciated

Ill let Phil know its back in his area, he may spot it in the summer

Sprinting... nope, the costs got silly for what we were getting, too many on the sprint, and the distance started being an issue, everything had moved north, nothing down south. Plus making it a sat & Sunday thing meant i had to travel the m25 on a Friday.
just kinda all added up to croft being £800 weekend for essential 6 laps (if they got them all in)
they removed the sighting run, and down to one practice so they could get more people in.
this year looks much better, prices have come down, but its still up north

it was still loads of fun i really enjoyed but i just couldn't make it work for me any more

Also Ben had kids so he couldn't really do much sprinting with three kids under 2

Ahh that's fair. It's not much more than that to do a circuit racing weekend, and you get quali and 2 full races

Daily driver?!

Do you have to wear your 1 piece luminous suit for "comfort"?
