Just stumbled across your excellent write up and journey, so thank you for that.
Back in 1994 I started working for a new start up called Ionica in Cambridge. About that time I bought my first Porsche, a 1990 944 S2 (Black/linen), with 60k for £13k (seems so cheap for a 4 year old Porsche). As I was working in Cambridge I visited the Cambridge dealer and actually drove their yellow 968 CS demo, probably the one in the photos above.
I kept the S2 for three years (added 60k) selling for £11.5k - it was great. Imported a new Audi A3 from Germany (as one did then) and regretted it but liking (then) the colour (Silver) bought a TVR Chim 500 in same. This actually gave no trouble, but didn't fit with new babies... etc etc.
So by 2011, was looking for something special again and picked up my current 968. Not the CS/Sport, but a lovely 94 Coupe, loaded with options which though normal today were not then eg A/C, cruise. Car lives inside on a lift and is maintained on-site by me.

Small world. I remember your black 944. Also ex Ionica although the closest I got to a Porsche was a Boxster that failed the dealer multi point inspection. Just stumbled across your excellent write up and journey, so thank you for that.

You have a beautiful car, the 968CS is definitely one of my favourite Porsches.
Your whimsical comments about a fantasy line up of primary coloured 968s reminded me of this article.
Admittedly, it features 964s rather than 968s, but I’d imagine the effect is similar!
I have a soft spot for Riviera Blue, as I have a Riviera Blue Caterham. It’s a gorgeous colour, photos don’t do it justice!

I very rarely say anything on this forum, despite loving to read what people get up to in their garages. I never comment on anything because ultimately, I rarely have anything constructive to add. There is nothing different here!
However, I just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to document things so clearly and in such an informative way. Your style of writing is easy to navigate and keep up to pace with. I have a 2.7 944, proper dog of a car, had loads of fun in it and have had it for a number of years, but original it is not! However I have found your OEM+ style fascinating and interesting to follow.
I have tried to do similar threads in the past, but I always end up getting so engrossed in what I am doing I usually have a few photos of the initial stages of a project and then forget, doesn’t make for much of an interesting read. So thanks for taking the time to document this. I have also found the “Trivia” absolutely fascinating!

Thanks for the video BM. Not a great fan of Tyrell Workshop, but the video is complimentary. He comes across as an "educator" with white boards, yet says working out a real Club Sport is too complicated and merely snooty to try and do so. We'll agree to disagree on that one.
Looking forward to 2024 and there's at least 2 968's in Readers Cars I plan to meet up with this year, so that's cool.
