Drive it and see what you think! I hope to take mine for a good drive soon and get better photos.

I doubt I'll get it back today, but I can hope!

I had an E92 Comp Pack for a couple of years, so I know what to expect from the engine. However this E90 is a DCT rather than a manual, which would be a fair leap into the unknown for me; as a fully paid up member of the 'save the manuals' movement. laugh

Hope you get the car back and are able to take it for a good run sometime soon, the V8 is an absolute peach.

Doesn't look like I'll be getting it back today unfortunately! He hasn't said why but that he'd planned on swapping it tomorrow (I'm seeing a work colleague of his tomorrow, so that's convenient, I guess) but if it's because of a part delay or issue I'll hazard a guess at the heated seat!

So the car is back, the only thing not done was the heated seat, which is the least important thing, that can wait. Everything else was done, including the air filter, too.

The tyres fitted are Michelin PS4S smile

Yeah they seem to get good reviews smile nice to have it back! Just 4 weeks and I'll be without it again for the rod bearings etc.

Insurance company phoned today, my images and quote for the repair have been sent off and I'll hear back in 2-3 days as to whether they agree with the cost. If they do I can get it booked in and arrange for a hire car. Hope the hints insurance premium rockets for being such an arrogant nonce.

PS Cup 2 on the front still, but they've still got 4.5mm of tread left so seems daft to change them now. I must admit when putting my foot down the other day the traction control came on a bit hehe so yeah, glad to get some fresh PS4S tyres on the rear!

Only just catching up on PH, so congrats Ross. I absolutely love these, possibly my favourite BMW of the last 15 years

Thanks. I really like it. Just need to get the other bits done and it'll be a very tidy example!

So the other day on the motorway the temp was around 65deg, around town nearer 71-75. It should be nearer 80. Went for a drive this evening after work and on the motorway it was rock solid 79-81 and the same around town as well. Went up to 87 when I was sat idling for a while and parking, before then dropping down to 85, at which point I turned the car off.

I'm happy! Managed to give it full throttle up to that lofty redline in 2nd this evening and it certainly gets a move on!

I did have a look, but certainly not now. I paid cash for the car (got £5k for mine), so my savings have dropped by over £14k and I've soon got the £3k bill for the rod bearings, engine mounts and full DCT service......! After that it's about building the savings back up a bit. Next "frivolous" spend on the car will likely be an integrated system for Android auto and Bluetooth streaming. That plus fitting, is around £6-700 (also fits a reversing camera too. I'm in no hurry for that.

I've a few other bits I want doing, including the diff oil, but that can wait until its service in October, unless it needs to go somewhere else for something beforehand in which case I'll get it done at the same time. Diffs often sound noisy on these cars when manoeuvring apparently but mine is quiet.

So Admiral accepted the quote I got from the bodyshop. Where it's a bodyshop I want to use I need to pay both voluntary and compulsory excess charges (£600) and then claim that back. Where the damage is minor I didn't want to book the car in, pay £600 and find I'm waiting for months and months before I can claim it back so decided to wait until the 3rd party had admitted liability.

Just this morning I had a text message from them saying that they have admitted liability and would be in touch with my insurance company. So I should be able to get it booked in soon and (hopefully) not have to wait too long before being able to claim the £600 back. I think I'll phone Admiral just to confirm the situation though.

Car is otherwise running well smile

What Android system are you looking at?

I've fitted an Andream system to my 335i which was £250 and easy to fit. It replaced the stock screen which I was happy with given the resolution of my CCC system was a bit naff. It adds touch screen function should you want it (I don't use it because I can't handle the fingerprints laugh ). The OE system functionality is retained and it supports a reversing camera which is something that I'd like to fit.

That's what I used on my 130i LE because it had the pop up screen. It did work well although I found it more of a pain to install than the Andream unit which is a bit more plug and play.

£3k for rod bearings, mounts and a DCT service. You need to shop around my friend as that is extortionate and you can knock near enough a grand off that

Redish motorsport online quote £1650 for rod bearings, engine mounts cost £150 plus some extra labour, their full DCT service and replacement of common failure points is £1k so doesn't seem too far out. It isn't just having a DCT filter and oil change.
