If you lift off the engine cover, then you can rule in or out the cam cover gaskets and the breather covers. When putting the cover back, I first aim for the air intake/MAF in the centre at the back of the engine and align it with the corresponding hole in the engine cover.Regarding the oil leak, the car is parked on a fairly flat driveway - the car doesn’t roll in neutral.

I can see a small puddle of oil on the top left (drivers side, between the 2 middle sensors). Pics below:
I think the cover on the left of the third photo is the breather cover which sits on top of the cam cover. Thanks and that does seem similar, I think I’m going to pass it onto a specialist (SE Autoworks in Guildford). The joy keeps coming, attached for resolving just the parking brake.
Dashboard clicking has 2 x broken motors and the dash needs removing.
Oil leak not reviewed yet.
I have lodged a complaint with the automotive ombudsman, bbc watchdog and then we’ll see what happens as Magari are not giving me any way forward since my email complaint 3rd July.
I’m sure it is a good car once fixed but if I get everything done, this car has cost me £3.5k in fixes in 4 months and under 1,000 miles…

That invoice looks about right to me, I spent £2k on rear brakes.
I don't want to be negative, but the last owner of my C55 bought it for ~£11k and then spent about another £11k on repairs in a bit under two years' ownership. Fortunately bills have slowed down somewhat in the 2.5 years I've had it.

Well done to Magari for fixing everything out of warranty, list included:
- Cam seal has resolved oil leak
- Air mass meter replaced
- Rear axle reassembly for parking brakes and refurb
- Heat shield re-fitted - making contact while reversing under load
- Climate control motors/levers banging - rectified
- Windows / roof aligned
I have missed the sound and the looks :-)
Bill came to £440 to me, majority under good will. Hoping for a few weeks trouble free motoring

Quick update - just passed into the 80k mile zone, 2,000 miles have cost me about £2,000...
Well I have new tyres, big service incl. spark plugs and lots of parts that are rebuilt or refurbished.
I am still enjoying the car overall, a great sound track, good acceleration and cruising ability makes up for the niggles.
I feel that the next thing is going to be the roof, although fairly minor. I need to help the rear cover into place by pulling it towards the boot and slotting it behind the rear headrests. It looks like a spring has broken.
Any recommendations for soft top mechanisms near Guildford?

i have a ML55 which is that engine in a 4x4 body. IVe owned minew now for nearly 8 years. I love it. I service the truck myself and have done since day. I did try and use a local dealer but realised quickly they all lie and cut corners and the only way to ensure things are fixed is to do it yourself. I had to replace my stepper motors, well its the actual rod that breaks and you can hear the motor continue to turn. The M113 is a beauty and extremely reliable. Everythng is on youtube.
If it was me I would straight away replace your crank sensor as these go and stop you from starting it. Easy job as its via the wheel well (on my ML anyway). I would check the aux water pump (Im sure they have one) as these always break and stop. The plugs are platinum and x2 per cylinder so 16 plugs hence why you never sqw it mention in the service history. Best way to get to them is via the wheel wells by removing slpash guards. Air flow sensor , yes I replced mine but there are tons of crappy chinese Boosh fakes out there so just by bosh from a good source.
One thing I would advise is a simple code reader. This will save you thousands as garages just fire the parts gun as these cars when things go wrong.
Make sure you flush the gearbox too, and only use mercedes grade oil for that.

When accelerating it sounds like there is a speed increasing ticking noise from the dashboard. If I take my foot off the accelerator, the sound goes away. It only does it while moving i.e. you cannot hear the noise if I’m stationary and pushing the accelerator pedal.

Noises are difficult to pinpoint, speed related, worse under load? I'd be checking the checking the front flexdisc. This is a strange one.
Does the nosie stop if you take ur foot of the pedal and let the car roll along ? I did think speedo cable but these are electric.
Sure its in side the dash and not in the engine area that is travelling through via air vents ? Sure it's not the body flexing on acceleration ? dashbaord as brittle now.
