What an awesome, and interesting to boot, project.

Have you thought about asking one of the mods to correct the spelling mistake in the title though laugh

Am now booked in to visit the workshop every Friday to help the project momentum. Will report back.

Going against the grain here, but I prefer the look with the over-riders.

More chrome is never a bad thing, and it makes it more distinct looking as you don't see these great big lumps of chrome on anything made after 1970 or so.
Agree - at the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, a restomod is about balancing the 'resto' and the 'mod' parts - the period look of the car is important to the character of the finished vehicle (unless you want to go for the 'club racer' vibe, then lose the chrome altogether).

Yeah but no but yeah but hotrod. Then again a real hotrod wouldn't have bumpers at alI I s'pose. I'm still in the smoothed out lowered resto modish camp here - it'll look lower and wider with no boobs on the bumpers.
Weekly pics - ooh yes please smile

It’s quite a narrow car so I think no over riders will help.

This is my father's 123 GT he has had for 50 years now.
IMO the overriders look great! One modification he did tough was getting rid of the chrome trim along the side of the car.

A while ago I got a good deal on a P1800 dashboard (lots of lovely dials rather than a horizontal speedo thing).

We plonked it in the car and realised that it's not a one-for-one swap. The chaps have done a great job of reworking it to make it fit, but the real challenge was how it would interface with the doors. Solution was forthcoming today. Top craftsmen.

The Vöx Amazon had this too wink (but I'm sure there are better Speed/tachometers to be had)
I had a P1800 for over 15 years and it truly has one of the nicest interiors of all time cloud9

Totally agree. What a lovely place to be. cool

Here's my old 1800S a week after buying it in the Spring of 1993.

Probably the only car I've really regretted selling.

Deffo boobs on the bumpers!

Dash fit looks to be interesting, looking forward to seeing the finished car, any thoughts on colour, please?

Carpathian Grey, it's a Range Rover colour, very dark grey. Bit darker than I originally planned but I'm trying to hold my nerve on the choice.

I think with the nickelised chromework, it should carry it off.

It's a good looking car. Dark grey will show the lines off nicely/enhance the chrome.

Front tyres arrived this week. Waiting on rears. Then we can decide if they can be cajoled into the rear arches or whether yet more metal work needs to come out. whistle

Bit more fettling of the dashboard done. That'll get parked for now.

Good colour choice, light interior?

I need to get my head around the interior. Ed leather, alcantara are on my list, but I need to find some examples to make a stab at what it might be.

Aside from the fact I've lost yet more of the floor/wheel arches, I do now have some space for wheels.

A mate of mine dailied an Amazon for a couple of decades. Not just for trundling round London but for family holidays, camping trips, festivals, all sorts.

He eventually bought something modern only about five years ago and now the Amazon is semi-retired in Sussex. Endearing thing.

Doesn't need the overriders.
