Wheels ordered and should be here this month (US import).

They'll be added to the car on the jig to confirm measurements etc for subframe solution up front.

Cracking thing, this.

Any projections on weight at this stage?

What's the plans for suspension and brakes?

Rear axle is narrowed Mustang so reasonable size disks on the rear will be simple enough.

Front subframe and chassis is still being planned. I’ll report back on that once it’s in place.

Not sure on weight. Plan is to have a cage in there too as I don’t want 350bhp chucking me in a ditch without some safety measures.

4 month hiatus over and we now have wheels.

That should unlock work on the axle, fuel tank and rear end and allow the front chassis to be specced up and ordered.

Loving those rims. They'll set the whole thing off nicely.

Lovely.

Nice that it’s all Volvo given the XC90/S80 engine connection too.

Credit to www.retroclassicengineering.co.uk for undertaking this project.
I thought I recognised some of the pictures....

I went and spoke to Gary about doing work on my 911 - I was very impressed and he seemed like a thoroughly nice chap - have you been happy?

Yes, sound chap and the team have great skills and increasingly good equipment. Just the expected challenge of remaining at the front of the queue. Waiting on parts etc can result in delays accumulating.

Yes, they seemed to have quite a mix of work - full on mega projects like yours (I'm pretty sure I saw it there thinking back to June !) and then more 'straightforward' work like mine (just a repaint and some minor panel repair from corrosion).

You can see how quite easily if they get stuck waiting for materials you end up behind a car like mine that might be ~2-3 weeks work.

Really exciting thread smile

Dashboard from a P1800 being 'encouraged' in. Wasn't the one-to-one swap I naively thought it was. They've done a great job though.

New wheels. I've never bought wheels before. What joy they bring! Just beautiful things.

Bumpers being prepped before going off for chroming. Do I reinstate the overriders or will it help the car look wider if I leave them off?

I’d vote for no overriders… but I guess it depends what “look” you’re going for. Is it a hidden beast q-car or retro mod? The wheels suggest the latter.

Damn this is going to look good. Proper hotrod. Another no overrider vote here. Well worth ceramic coating those wheels before the tyres go on too, much easier when they're straight out of the box.
Nice dash too - painted body colour planned for it?

Going against the grain here, but I prefer the look with the over-riders.

More chrome is never a bad thing, and it makes it more distinct looking as you don't see these great big lumps of chrome on anything made after 1970 or so.

Decisions going on in my head is to fit fog-lamps to the front or not. scratchchin

Edited to add, not great big rally Cibies, but something a little more subtle like this:
