It must have been a totally different experience back then on a road trip to Norway with so fewer cars and lorries to hold you up.

It was a truly wonderful experience in those days with no speed limits on the German autobahns and in Norway they had no speed traps or radar back in the day All unspoilt
That looks absolutely awesome in black. Silly question but do you wish you’d kept it?

To be fair, £11k was an enormous amount of money in 1972.

Great memories you can always enjoy Roger. Please continue to share and period photos appreciated.

As someone else said, I guess back in the 60s/70s a continental road trip in a sports or GT car was a proper road trip. With today's speed cameras and traffic volumes such cars wont arrive at their destination much more quickly than a family diesel.

Fantastic stuff. Coincidentally there was a black Miura S at V Engineering when I was there on Weds, looking fabulous.

The man who sold a Miura too cheaply back in the day is still head and shoulders above the rest of us who have never owned one, so I wouldn't feel too bad about it. Also getting a cascade of Espadas as "practical family cars" is really great going! Have you seen Harry M's vids on his Espada? Looks really nice.

Any more pics of the Miura are always welcome, although I appreciate that back in the day, people didn't yet have the habit of photo-documenting their breakfast, lunch and dinner to share online, so images from back then are naturally far scarcer.

Fascinating thread and very interesting.

If you watch Harry Metcalf ( Harrys Garage Youtube channel as has been mentioned already ) and Ian Tyrells Classic Workshop you will see plenty of Lamborghini content, in particular when they need a Naval Crane to extract the Espada engine & gearbox !!
The videos by Ian Tyrell on the V12 engine rebuild are fascinating....makes what I did on my Lotus Elan Twin Cam engine seem so simple in comparison !

It is great to hear about the time when these amazing cars were used properly, and more so that now they are worth so much that the owners don't really use them as intended.
The Miura was, and always will be to me one of the most beautiful cars ever designed.

Great thread !!

Blimey, Roger at risk of becoming the coolest person on PH. As someone who has clearly loved Lamborghini from the early days, what are your thoughts on the current direction of the company with creations such as the Urus?

Amazing photos ...particularly the V12 E Type in the snow.... That must have been interesting even with snow chains !!

Jay Leno ( of Jay Lenos Garage on YouTube ) has a couple of Miuras...one was given to him by a pal IIRC !! He also ran an Espada as his daily driver for a while..

Thanks for all those wonderful photos.
