What made you decide against the spacers? (been thinking about them myself)
Purely due to being unsure if they’d be a waste of money by making the handling worse. If I did put spacers on then it would be purely for aesthetic reasons and I’d rather the car has the current handling characteristics and forgo the ‘look’ being improved. They won't affect the handling characteristics really; you're simply widening a fixed point

I don't understand why car manufacturers don't sit the wheels flush with the arches from the factory, and why they sit the wheels in so much as standard(it just looks crap to my eyes), but I presume that there must be a reason why they do though.
My MINI has just ticked over the 6000 mile mark this week.

I haven't updated this thread in a while, mainly because there hasn't been anything to update - still got the MINI, it's done approx 7.5k miles now, shelled out £180 for road tax for it last week and my annual insurance premium for it in August last year was £414.00
MOT'd it in September 2023 and it passed with no advisories.
The above picture was taken this afternoon after I spent approx 3 hours cleaning it, first time it's been cleaned since probably October last year, it needed it! 5 minutes before I was due to have finish the job it started raining though, bloody typical. It could be doing with a coat of wax on it but that'll need to wait until the next time it isn't raining in Scotland so maybe August?
It's due a service next month, I've had a couple of quotes and both are fairly similar but quite eye-watering at just over £700, that includes a brake fluid change though and also another couple of hours labour as I am going to get the brake calipers on all 4 corners dismantled, cleaned and reassembled, due to the car being just over 4 years old and only having done 7.5K'ish miles I am feeling the brakes aren't quite as good as they should be, I highly doubt it'll need discs or pads (all still appear to have plenty of 'meat' on them) but guessing the sliders on the calipers might benefit from a good clean and new lube applied.
Enjoyed reading this thread. Sadly one of my best friends who owned this model passed away in 2022 and his 80 year old wife is still driving the car! We were out with her in it on Friday. I haven’t owned a Mini since my 1275 Cooper S in the Seventies but I’m quite tempted by one of these.
By coincidence I also fancy a late Focus RS so thanks for the earlier link!

Got a 2023 Ford Focus ST Estate (Automatic) in 'Mean Green', 9-months old and done 7K miles, not sure if I'll start a Readers Cars thread for this one.
Great choice on the ST..!!My missus has a JCW as few years older than what yours was but it’s a brilliant little car and the auto box is spot on I felt.
Correct also on the interior materials I just felt it never looked premium and some real nasty hard plastics used.
