New to the thread, just wanted to say: Le Mans blue touring with style 193s, delete the chrome grill and that’s close to perfect love
Do you mean MV3? (alloys) These need a straighten and refurb, but I love them. The grill won't be changed for a black one or similar, my intention is to keep the car (stylistically) standard. It's a slippery slope, change one thing, then another etc etc, and before you know it you're featuring on the 'badly modified' thread biglaugh
Yeah. Style 193 are MV3s, Style 135 are MV2, Style 72 are crack prone cheese wheels MV1s hehe

Suppose they never did an oem non-chrome grill for the e9x, so can understand you not wanting to go down the aftermarket route for fear of a BarryBoys reaction.

BMW did make a black grille for the E9x range. M Performance. I tried them but found it made the car look badly modified. I know tastes differ and some like them.

I'd like to know where the MV1, MV2 and MV3 naming originated from because I've only heard Brits refer to those three M Sport package wheels as MVx. What does it even mean

I'm with you on this one. My 335i came with a BMW Performance black grille and the first thing I did after buying the car was replace it with a standard chrome version. Much better in my view, I really don't get the whole blacked out look.

Funny RE this. When I studied the MOT history of the car, one of the very few fails it's experienced was for a cracked alloy.

For me it depends on the colour of the car; on a light colour I like black grilles. Chrome ones would have looked poo on my white M140i and I liked black against the space grey metallic 125i. Black grilles however look awful against sparkling graphite grey hence my 335i keeping the chrome.

For sure, it's all personal preference. Googl'ing a LMB E90 with black grill, for me, I dislike the aesthetic.

One of the very few visual mods I will do is when the alloys are refurbished/buckle repaired, I will go for a more chromed finish. I don't want to go to full shadow chrome, think half way between SC/ current alloy hue.

This is the nearest image I found to the finish I want, which I have saved to provide the wheel restorer in due course.

I don’t think it works on LMB…perhaps I’m getting old because I liked the black grilles on my old saloon. laugh

Now, if anyone can assist with this quandary. After the Andream was installed, the onscreen reversing showed up sporadically, maybe half the time. Now it is showing the following, nearly 100% of the time.

Google has not been of any help. Has anyone any ideas what I need to do to resolve this?

That means it's picking up the reverse signal from the CAN bus and activating the camera, but the camera itself isn't providing a signal. Are you sure it's all properly connected? There are multiple camera power wires and RCA inputs on these and it can get quite confusing as to which ones to use. You might want to start by checking that the camera is getting power first, then focus on the RCA connection (try swapping them around).

We have working central locking woohoo

A place called Beemer Garage in Bulwell, Nottingham (https://www.bimmergarage.co.uk)

If you are in the Midlands this place SERIOUSLY needs to be on your radar. The amount of hours/work they did with the cars wiring, to sort this for under £200 is seriously impressive. I'll add more later, I'm just home, and opening a much needed beer!

In the mean time, I want an N54 plate. Votes on the below available. Most are £179, a few of them in the 400's.

NN54 FUN
NN54 RAW
NN54 JET
NN54 TOY
NN54 RBT (my initials)
NN54 ACE
NN54 BAM
NN54 YOB
NN54 TYL (part of my surname)
NN54 OAF
NN54 FAN
NN54 POW
NN54 YES

I'm leaning to JET or TOY.

NN54 FAN is my favourite from your list. Another option is a 335 plate. Plenty available from the DVLA and they are ageless.

Well, today I made a bit of a tt move, will upload pics in the morning. About to reverse out of a spot, I noted that the van behind had a low trailer. I got gassing to someone for maybe 10 minutes, and completely forgot this detail.

Reversed using just the mirror and SMACK! It's split it, new (read salvaged if poss) needed. A few questions, if anyone knows and can help?

The 35i has L/R exhaust tips. Most the salvage LMB ones have single side exhaust cut outs. The grey trim to the lower of the bumper, does this detach easily from the bumper, or is it a sealed (or similar) bit? IE could I buy a none 35 bumper, make a crude cut for the right exhaust, knowing it would be hidden by the grey trim?

Secondly, there are more E90 bumpers about than E91. Are they by any chance the same item, they look similar?

Properly pissed off with myself RN headache

The E91 rear bumper is different to the E90. The grey trim is easily removable. You can even upgrade to an M Performance style one.

Standard trim on left. M Performance on the right:

Damn, that's rotten luck. Based on the part numbers it looks like the bumper is unique to the E91 and to the 335. I think the exhaust cutout for the lower spec models is further to the left so it wouldn't be covered by the 335i twin exhaust trim.

Is it not repairable?

On second thoughts maybe you would get away with a lower spec bumper and a 335 trim piece based on the above pic. I wonder why bmw makes a separate bumper for the 335 though, seems strange if the trims are interchangeable.

I think the bumper is the same for all E91 M Sport models. Just the lower trim differs.

So what I'm taking from these posts so far (TY gents) is that A) I'm outta luck using a E90 bumper, and B) that the grey trim should fit on to a none 35 bumper, covering a rudimentary cut (or cuts) in the bumper to allow the twin exhausts to be correctly cited?

This is what I found on realoem. Lists the same bumper for all M Sport E91s (obviously choice for PDC/non PDC):

There’s not a lot behind the grey trim on my 335d.
