Ouch, hopefully that'll be the last big bill for a while.

Car still looks fab, any plans for the summer with it?

I'm working with them to see if they can get the cost down, but we shall see. Plans are get it out more, a few classic car shows and a couple of spirited drives so I can hear that V10!

"sadly", the numbers don't work for me. I'd be better off getting the cheapest possible pre-LP and hoping the cat's fine, and just suck up the £5k per year servicing bill for a couple of years.
If it helps, I'll be moving this on next year at some point (maybe)

Don’t disagree but as these era Gallardos get older and needing £5k services each time it starts to make Huracans more attractive. Assuming the Huracan is a decade or so younger I can imagine the difference in service costs would make the purchase price gap narrower if you are keeping the car a few years.
That’s a very good point and how man maths works!
hehe

It eradicates the uncertainty in expenditure is my own thought process. And I like to know my budget. I’ll see if I feel that way when the time comes.

Yeah Lambo parts prices are truly bonkers.

Replacement parts are (unsurprisingly) in the thousands; but what most people don’t realise is all the associated nuts, bolts and trim pieces end up adding several hundreds on top! Or worse: they’re NLA! So at least it’s a small win that they’re still available to order from Lambo.

Fabulous looking car, OP. Evo magazine took a couple of resplendent studio shots of your car, for their gen 1 buyers guide.

I'll echo the other comments, those prices for clamps are nuts!
I just couldn't pay that, I'd have waited and sourced some from a specialist.
But on a positive, have you heard the sound with the Larini yet?

Wow thanks SpecJunkie I had no idea it has been in the limelight before! Maybe I’ll get in touch with them for the images!

And not heard the Larini cats just yet, but can’t bloody wait!

A lot better than £2.5k though.

I really cannot get my head around those prices, lambo tax or not. Genuinely insane.

I’m trying to justify it to myself more than anything hehe it would give me some sort of confirmation bias if someone else takes the same view.

biggrin

Every time I see this thread pop up since you made the suggestion, I've played with the figures in my head. I get some cost accounting graph appear. I mean, it's doable but you'd have to hold the car for several years to hit breakeven.

If you want to experience a Lambo, it's probably better to buy it for a year and take the hit with fixing something that stings a bit and then move it on.

I'm pretty lazy with selling cars especially if they're enjoyable to drive so I'd get it all wrong and sit on one for 3-4 years... which would cost about £15k total in getting things fixed plus £2.5k a year for tax and insurance. It makes the initial price of the car trivial because you should get most of it back, if not more, once we're out of this dip... but how long do you have to wait especially if the annual costs are quite a chunk. Running an older Porsche at ~£2k a year is about where I'm ok with at the mo!
