They're some brutal parts prices - is it the rarity compared to the later cars driving it?

It still looks fab though.

Running an older Porsche at ~£2k a year is about where I'm ok with at the mo!
Pretty much where my comfort level is right now too biggrin

Having a Gallardo in the garage would be a wonderful thing and they are really fabulous cars, but the parts prices JM where quoting in that video are truly brutal frown

Luckily warranty paid.

£2.5k for two exhaust clamps?! There's profiteering and then there's just taking the piss.

Its a V-band clamp that could be manufactured by pretty much anyone. There's no way I'd even be paying 10% of that cost for them, I don't care if they're not genuine laugh

Surely one of the many aftermarket exhaust manufacturers should have a set on the shelf?

ETA: Surely this is what you're after? Still £225 each but better than £1250 each laugh

Well, it's £2.5K for 4 clamps - thankfully I only need the one rofl

Lovely car. I really liked these when they came out, I wished they had scissor doors but other than that it was just perfect in my eyes. Congrats, its good you're living the dream and having a shed for a daily means this feels extra special. I have a clio too. I have envy for that renault merch in the original garage photos! Sorry for your news of your friend, life can be brutal.

Thank F for that! I wonder at the back of my mind why you can't use a generic large jubilee clamp?

Oh right. Isn't there a work-around? (Obviously, I'm not clever enough to figure out this kind of mechanical problem but there must be someone out there who is.)

In hindsight, maybe I could have done some research and got some clamps in readiness for this work being done as well as waited for the fella I've been in touch with in America to sort me that oil filter housing gasket. Doing that would have saved me a small fortune. The challenge I have currently is time is not on my side as the car is in the garage right now.

Thanks, I appreciate your post. The Renault merch was found (and then subsequently sold) on eBay so it's all there if you were wanting to do the same.

If the garage don't object, I can't see the problem with the car sitting in the corner for a bit?

They have cars in every corner of each of the three hangar sized workshops. The place is full to the brim of cars it’s insane. There must be £5M worth of cars lying around

Plus I want it for summer

Not really that bad all in then given the clamp quotes,

My Aston usually had a £4k ish service each year by the time a few bits were added to the basic service cost. These cars are getting on now so only to expect it.

£7k plus 1hr labour, so £8.5k by official dealership standards

Mines in for its smallest service, not even plugs, just air and oil filters. Lots of ‘visual’ checks, £2.5k before anything is found that needs doing

I kind of expect this to be the annual budget for a Gallardo from reading around!
