Really nice car OP, I think they are great looking things and white really suits it.

Appreciate it's not about power necessarily but do you think you'll look into a mild remap and/or exhaust modifications?
Thanks, it's certainly a car that's living up to expectations.

I doubt I will chase more power, its as quick as the Tuscan and Vantage we have and at 300 bhp it's already at the limits of what the gearbox can deal with (or so I have heard)

After saying in my last post that I doubted I would chase more power - I have

I was not necessarily chasing more power, more a change in the power delivery.

The A110 is a fabulous all round car but I felt that the power delivery was almost too linear, too measured and I was hoping for more of a difference between Normal and Sport modes.

Whilst in with a Renault specialist for various parts to be 3D scanned (I had simply loaned them the car for a couple of days) l was offered an engine and gearbox remap.

Now I have lived with it for a couple of weeks and done numerous journeys on different types of roads I feel I am in a position to give my opinion on it.

I do have the dyno print out, it has more power but there has been a bigger increase in torque and it climbs more quickly, I believe its that which has changed the way the car drives

Much more eager to drop down gears in auto gearbox mode, will hold on to gears longer, torque arrives earlier and provides relentless acceleration - real mid range shove now.

Cannot honestly say I have noticed quicker changes but slow shift speed was hardly an issue before.

Economy unchanged

Only slight negative is that it spends less time in top when pottering along in Normal / fully auto

Like all things, this change may not suit everyone but I did it to suit me and what I wanted and happy with what it provides

Hopefully this week can see me finish cleaning up the EVO Corse Cup wheels I acquired recently and get them on for a trial fit.

Managed to get out early on Sunday for a decent drive on some clear roads and to get some fresh pics

Sounds good!
Does the remapping come with a warranty?
These engines are a bit fragile when stretched.

Engine / gearbox not been stretched, more like reconfigured. Was not chasing / wanting more power as a priority, more a tweak to power / torque delivery

Who did the remap? I'm surprised you thoughr the S needed it.

Remap done by K-Tec, I was not looking for more power (although I got a little of it), just a different power delivery with more of a difference between Normal and Sport - what has been delivered suits me perfectly/

Whilst it may not be what everyone is looking for the car is mine and the changes work for me

Does the k-tec remap come with a warranty as I gues the manufactures one will now be void?
This has always concerned me with a newish car and why I have only ever had older cars remapped.

Yesterday allowed me to drive the A110S on roads that it is probably best suited to - mixture of sweeping roads with great sight lines to narrower country roads with tight low speed corners and short straights, being North Wales there was also the rain to factor in to things.

I had organised an 85 mile round trip with other A110 owners into North Wales stopping at the Ponderosa, the cafe on the side of Lake Bala and taking in the Horseshoe Pass, B4401, B4391 and B4396.

Roads were pretty quiet and really allowed the car to be stretched - it did not disappoint, the firmness of the A110S (lessened a little in my car due to having Eibach springs fitted), disappeared, replaced by superb body control and directness, the lack of weight and remapped TCU allowed the car to really punch down the straights but it was the corners that really showed how good this little car is. It was driven hard and did not falter once.

The question I can get asked most often is "Why did you not just buy a Porsche" - yesterdays drive vindicated my decision, I doubt I'd have had any more fun in any comparable Porsche and getting back on to home ground, refuelling and discovering it had done 34mpg was the icing on the cake.

If you are in the market for a Porsche or an Emira then you overlook an A110 at your peril, its o good both the Tuscan and Vantage have been sold.

That's interesting, I live quite near K-Tec and am pleased they are still servicing Renault based products. I came quite close to buying a Megane Cup from them about 8 years ago. Some cracking roads around that area too for customers to test their out their upgrades!

Like tracking down slightly obscure bits of stuff and stumbled across a lovely Alpine branded set of Facom tools, apparently pretty rare

Evo Corse wheels fitted today, may get them done in bronze, will see how I feel in a few weeks but make a nice change to the standard S wheels

Nicely integrated Vmount wireless phone charger installed

And devised a solution to a potential long term issue of seatbelt rubbing against the seats

There's a white A110 I go past fairly regularly that's now running bronze wheels, looks like a good combination.

Popped into my local and much trusted wheel refurbishers on Monday and had a look at colour options - decided to go for BMW Ferric Grey 2, apparently the 2 denotes slightly more metallic flake.

Wheels off the car this morning and dropped off, set of wheels were in reception in another colour so after quick deliberation I changed my mind - hope I don't live to regret it

Sorry to persist with this question but I really would like to know what happens with the warrantee once remapped.
Obviously the manufacturer one is void for anything engine related so is this then covered by the remap company?

Love these, need to try one at some point I think...

OOI what's the weirdly-shaped black piece behind the rear numberplate in later shots? Don't recall seeing this on other A110s, not sure if darker colours have been hiding it!

It is obviously a grey area - I accept that the engine / gearbox element of Alpine warranty will be void on most components and that the provider of the remap would do the right thing - on the basis that I do not stress the car, do a low mileage, the remaps are hardly extreme and that the engine / box are not known for giving trouble that it was a risk worth taking

Its just part of the Fourdot number plate - its a short (but legal) plate and the black helps to break up what would otherwise be a chunk of white bodywork - just personal taste on my part

More work done today to make long term ownership / maintenance a little easier.

Offside front and rear ach liners taken out, cleaned and dressed

Inner wings liberally coated with Bilt Hamber UC

All threads copper slipped so should be easy to remove in future

Jacking points treated with Bilt Hamber UC

Rear diffuser removed and cleaned

Its only when you take the liners out do you realise what a special little car this is - great quality

Cracking choice, looks so much better than the black...colour really pops with the white.

Yes, yes, great choice on the wheel colour! As above much better than black.
