Lovely car OP, the R33 is my favourite of the GT-R family and the work you've done to yours looks fantastic, you're going to have quite some car when it's finished.

The car fired up on Wednesday for the first time and it now has a base map loaded onto the ECU ready to perform the running in procedure. 100 miles then oil and filter change, repeat another 100 miles with oil/filter change and then it is ready for the final map.

Another complication turned up which sadly means more costs, on top of the expensive bill already which is much more than I had expected.
The cam/crank trigger kit that I have is usually configured to have the cam sensor set to home and then the crank trigger to serve its purposes. My mapper would prefer to have a tooth removed to make it 24 - 1 for various reasons that he explained to me.
I initially went against it but after hearing his justifications mainly around TDC and any timing scatter I have agreed to get the tooth removed, so much talk about teeth lately I feel like I'm becoming a dentist!

Hopefully the car will be mapped before December

I think this is my favourite skyline shape. And absolutely commend the task you've undertaken to get it where it is. The colour combo is fantastic.

What colour did you paint the callipers?

Fingers crossed for mapping in December. Very much looking forward to seeing some final photos etc.

Thank you, the calipers will actually stay black with a silver brembo sticker. The front setup has not been installed as it doesn't clear the 18" temporary wheels I am on but the rear's have been fitted.

A single tooth has been removed from the crank trigger and while this was off, Jean from JM had a look around the crank. Glad he did and very happy that the decision was taken to remove the tooth as without this being done, we wouldn't have spotted the crank seal was fitted incorrectly. They were surprised that this wasn't leaking already. Thankfully this can be replaced without removing the oil pump.
Shame that the crank is so dirty considering the engine has hardly ran and it was a complete rebuild, I know the crank was fine to reuse again but a tidy up on it would have been nice..

Car was mapped earlier this week. 516 bhp at the rear wheels, front prop was removed so no 4wd figure. Assuming a 15% transmission loss it's approximately 600 bhp at the crank. I was hoping to achieve 550 bhp so I'm extremely happy with the results.

Lovely curves there and a very decent output there. I think you're in the sweet spot there around 600bhp.

Outstanding. Love these, they were always on my bucket list until they got (really) expensive. As a car-mad teen approaching driving age in the mid-late 90’s these were my dream car, more so than any Italian supercar. Great job.

Wow I love what you have done with this and that colour is so good. White japanese cars always look a bit naff so it looks quality now

I owned a midnight purple one in 2004/2005 and only sold as my exwife became pregnant. Still remains the best car I have owned. Recently looked at prices of them to buy another and theyre beyond me now but seeing this thread has thrown up a load of good nostalgia for me

Enjoy what looks to be a fantastic car

Thanks all. It should be alot of fun to drive around. The overall package of the engine seems to be working well together.

Hopefully the car will be picked up from JM Imports next week or early the following week and then dropped off at the bodyshop to fit the rest of the panels to actually make it look like a car again.

Car was picked up from JM Imports just over two weeks ago. Still got a snag list to address with the engine but we're getting there. Off to the bodyshop in the new year to have all the remaining panels fitted back on before its finished off.

Really like the colour combo there, something about the R33, the curves work so much better than the more angular R32 and R34's.

Cracking build, that's going to be a lovely car.

Stunning build, my favourite colour. Have the same on an early Panamera Turbo.

Car picked up from Halo Lincoln who painted the vehicle originally. They had to do some touch up paint on the spoiler, paint the front grill and finally fit most panels back onto the car.

Front bumper remains off the car for now as there is still some further work to be done to the engine bay. Got to identify a coolant leak and also replace the DBW system with another. Not a huge amount of work left to be done thankfully, and fingers crossed Steve from SR Autobodies is aiming to get the car back to me late May or early June.

My dad's pretty much finished one of the front seats, I'm very grateful for his efforts here with it and can't wait to see them installed in the car.

Also did something which I think is now more like an "old school" modification for my modernisation project. Least this way I can make sure that I'm using all of the sound systems capabilities. Unsure if I said it before but I'll be running the Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 head unit, Alpine Type-X components up front, co-axial in the rear, Alpine under seat subwoofer and an Alpine amp to power it all.

A pretty significant update. Yesterday the car was over at Rogue Motorsport in Southam to have Racecal revisit the ECU map and tweak it as the DBW system that was originally on the car was removed, and replaced with another DBW from another company.

It's made a world of difference. There were some issues with the first DBW setup, and fault finding would be quite time consuming, therefore costly as I would have been billed by the hour.

It now runs and idles smoothly and is nearly in a position to be finished off ready for it's MOT this month. Once MOT'd, we'll have one big final push to get the car ready before it goes to the Players show at Goodwood on the 8th June.

Front seats have now been installed, glass installed and just waiting for the bumper to be picked up from bodyshop alongside the door glass before its water tight. Wheels also installed which have made a huge difference to its appearance. They are re-produced LMGT1 inspired wheels, 19, 10.5J, ET12 fitment, with 285/30/19 MPS4S tyres fitted.
