I was half way through a year so a bit hard to say exactly, think it worked out around £450 which is about 50% more than the Subaru that proceeded it.
Not outrageous but certainly not cheap either.

Hey, think the car's fab. In fact, lined up to get one but not sure which to choose - normal or x-power. Decisions...

The kid in me says x-power, but reality is my (completely not interested in cars) wife will use it most of the time. Couple questions if you don't mind
- Does the novelty of the acceleration wear off? Still glad you you got the x-power? Does the extra make it a nicer car to drive?
- Is it a safe car to drive for the relatively inexperienced. In old days near 500hp in a hatchback would be terrifying. Is this the case here? My wife will use it too so need to think of both of us

Great choice. The shove in the back for me is totally addictive, it's not just the launch, it does it at all legal speeds. I don't think I will get bored of it.

My wife drives mine all the time, she doesn't do fast cars and generally has refused to drive most of my cars but she loves the mg. Throttle modulation is very easy and you really have to give it a good shove to get it to do it's party trick. It's super easy to drive round town at low speeds. Fast petrol cars I've had can be a bit harder to drive, getting throttle modulation right, or having to get the clutch just so. This is quite the opposite, it couldn't be easier. If you didn't tell her, she probably wouldn't know...

Having said that, I did test drive a standard car, it was plenty nippy, and the ride was a bit more forgiving (but not much). It was also very nice. The extended range trophy might just be the sweet spot, with ample performance and just a bit more range, but I would struggle to turn my back on the acceleration of the x....

Just think. This car has already lost £10000 on its new list from last October. That makes these a bargain if it's your thing. ( I'll stick to petrol cheers)

I wouldn't be so sure for the X-power version. That performance benchmark also has a price benchmark.
They have crashed in price. There's one at a dealer with just £4k on for £28k it's literally lost £10k in 4 months

Isn’t this just the market correcting itself? Cars used to plummet in value as soon as they were made now we are all expecting crazy high residuals when really that was just a small blip through covid?

Keep it coming! I want to get one in 18 months (current e-golf goes back) so the cheaper the better. Long or extended range in orange please.

I can pick up a 2023 golf r for £35k. They are £44.5k new so it's not that different. And that's a premium brand. It's to be expected and yes the market is also cooling off.

But that's exactly why I didn't buy it!

No not like he is describing there anyways. I have occasionally got a bit of a shake at 70ish but it's very light. Noticeable but certainly doesn't slow you down and seemingly not every time. I wonder if it's tyre pressure sensitive.
Also he states horrendous understeer. Well yes it does understeer but no worse than most other hot hatches I have driven

Wasn’t the suspension and set up all done in Britain though ?

Our company have just introduced a "green" salary sacrifice car scheme. Usual suspects from Tesla and Polestar are a bit pricey, but I spotted the X-Power Trophy can be had fully-maintained and insured for £300 net a month which seems rather good value. Time to book a test drive and do some sums!

That's fantastic value!
I haven't booked it but servicing is pretty cheap (less than £100 I have been told for the first service) but tyre wear looks pretty high so far, but at less than 2k miles it's a little hard to be certain!

What company ?
Tusker have it for around £320 for 9k miles, Insured for 2 people, serviced and fully maintained.

Ours is with SG Fleet I think. My quote was over 4 year term, 5k pa with 2 people insured, and fully maintained (40% tax payer). I didn't play around with the numbers but used the same criteria to compare against other cars which is why I was surprised how much cheaper it was!
