it turns out to be the 17th +2 produced by the factory and appears to be the first customer car!! Originally sold as a kit, it wasn't finished untill 1972, hence the K plate.
thatd make it 50/0017.....therefore the earliest +2 left alive IIRC
Apparently not! 50/0014 reg numbers LPW120E/LPW120F (Lotus press car appeared with both reg numbers!) was the UK press car, heavily featured in all road tests of the time was last seen at Donnington, fully restored in 2001 IIRC, 50/0016 is a left hook press car used by the american importers and according to one of the forum registers its undergoing restoration, 50/0016 is in Canada and again undergoing restoration. The register hasn't been updated for a few years though.

50/0017 was sold by the factory 2 months before the motorshow launch in '67, this is second hand information to my self, the research was done by a friend. I fully intend to do some digging with regards to its past when i have more free time. My current plan is to use the car as I intended (updated wiring/dash/trim 5 speed gearbox) then time and funds permitting I'll ressurect it as it should have been when originally built. However as a very early car, the chances are it was very different to the slightly later ones, also being a "kit" theres no knowing what the original owner did with it in the first place unless I can locate them!

compared to my 1970 shell, the body is much heavier, with the grp being at least one or two layers of matt thicker, Its certainly a curious discovery and at least it didn't get chopped up and dumped or spydered as so many early plus 2s have been.
