it turns out to be the 17th +2 produced by the factory and appears to be the first customer car!! Originally sold as a kit, it wasn't finished untill 1972, hence the K plate.
thatd make it 50/0017.....therefore the earliest +2 left alive IIRC50/0017 was sold by the factory 2 months before the motorshow launch in '67, this is second hand information to my self, the research was done by a friend. I fully intend to do some digging with regards to its past when i have more free time. My current plan is to use the car as I intended (updated wiring/dash/trim 5 speed gearbox) then time and funds permitting I'll ressurect it as it should have been when originally built. However as a very early car, the chances are it was very different to the slightly later ones, also being a "kit" theres no knowing what the original owner did with it in the first place unless I can locate them!
compared to my 1970 shell, the body is much heavier, with the grp being at least one or two layers of matt thicker, Its certainly a curious discovery and at least it didn't get chopped up and dumped or spydered as so many early plus 2s have been.
