My Gartrac Escort G6
Discussion
i bought a blue g6 escort in eastbourne about four years ago. the reg being Q828 CPE.
then brought it back to ireland where it has been since. when i bought the car it was
in ok condition and had a yb cosworth in it. it was an absolute joy to drive and had
a huge grin factor about it! it was featured in a couple of magazines over the years,
performance ford in 1988 i think and max power in 1994 when it had a 3.3 litre v6 with
a t4 turbo on it. martin yorkshire was the owner of it then. anyway when i bought the
car it was obvious that the engine bay was starting to look a bit rough around the
edges and would need attention someday. that day has arrived and it is now being
stripped down so it can be restored to it's former glory. when this is done the yb
will go back in but i'd rather go without the turbo this time, my aim is 250-270 bhp,
not cheap but definitely my preferred option. so if anyone has any information about
the car and it's past history i'd like to hear more about it.

I am trying to find out how many Gartrac Escorts are still alive and running. Does anybody know anyone with one preferably mk3 versions of the G6.I believe there are only 5 left.
Well im one of the probable five, i own a Escort Gartrac G6 (mk3 version)and its pretty much the way it was built and still runs a 2.8i v6 motorI have got some photos of the GAA one and Ayrton Senna testing one in wales.
i will dig them out and post asap
Original mk3 g6's are easy to spot under bonnet because the have been basically chopped from bulkhead and complete new inner wing, turrets, stiffners etc replaced and not the original rounded turrets. Also wheel base is made longer at front end.
Cheers

Yours looks to be shorter wheelbase and have sierra inner wing tops, i think gartrac started to go this way later on, more with the mk4 version escort all the gartrac mk4"s ive seen have sierra inner wings in them, and with it being four wheel drive i suppose it would be easier to build. As far as i can tell all the early cars have fabricated inner wings and the build number is stamped onto the top of the inner wing by the strut top.
