As M car owners it's our responsibility to burn as much super unleaded as possible in the quest for high RPM induction noise!

After a longer than expected stop in a colleagues garage, we packed the DCT box for transport to Iceland few days ago:

We think we´re pretty good at packing smile

Hope to have it here in Iceland in 2 weeks or so.

Any updates on this OP - How are you getting on with the software matching for the V10 and DCT/DKG transmission?

Regards

I have contacts that have the software sorted.

Test fitted the DCT, fits better than I had expected:

Like a glove!

Will there be enough room for wiring etc?

I will remove the sound deadening material and that will give extra space.

I decided to go for a manual 6 speed behind my V10... decided is a strong word as my wife insisted on a manual!

Are you going to be upgrading any of the internals? crank, vanos etc? or 'just' doing a refresh?

I will be going with CP pistons and Carrillo rods. Block is sleeved.

Still debating whether to go for the stroker crank.

I think I need to work on the man maths some more for that to happen.

I very interested in knowing the actual costs of what you are doing, I'm going to rebuild mine as well.

My research has suggested the crank is actually one of the components it would be wise to upgrade... I like to see over 600bhp from the engine once finished (Ive decided to use a Motec M150 ecu).

I´m in the fortunate situation that a good friend has alot of the parts as leftovers from previous tuning projects he has completed for tuning companies.

Costs for pistons/rods aren't that bad but it´s the stroker crank that seems to be approx. 4500 usd.

You say you want to upgrade the crank - what capacity are you aiming for?

I don't have a stroke / capacity target, I've heard so doubts voiced over the 5.8l stroker units.... in truth i don't want to stroke it and reduce the rpm, if anything Id like to extend the rpm maybe to 8750 redline.
My car will be light so I'd be happier to add power without adding torque.

Surely you can extend the stroke as stock is only around 75mm isn't it? Plenty of 100mm stroke engines out there turning over 8k rpm esp with aftermarket bottom ends....

Surely that depends on rod length and gudgeon pin location in the pistons?

The S85 is oversquare, ie. stroke is less than bore, 75.2mm vs. 92mm stock.

So basically it likes revs. With upgraded rods/pistons you can add some revs but you will run into limitations in the heads if you increase alot.

The sleeved block I have has the stock 92mm bore. Going to 83mm stroke would give me approx. 5.5L
Think the max stroke people are doing is 84mm.
