£4,000 on your first car at 17 is headshaking to an old fart like me
Indeed... I recall working/saving my arse off at 17 to buy a car for £900 and insure it for £900. Mods such as a sound system or tinted glass were out of the question!

You youngsters smile
£900 ! my first car was £30, £100 would get you a very good banger - £900 well that would be a newish car

I've no idea how much the insurance was then but the cars' were only ever worth TPF&T so the annual premiums were not enough to worry about

Mods were perhaps a stereo radio/cassette and er, a go-faster stripe and er, well that was about it

Course it was all fields 'round here when I was a young girl rolleyes

My friends dad bought one for a laugh, he drives around the local town in it!

I'd love to have one, great fun with mates in there!

The clock says it's done about 450,000 miles but they say it is likly to have done more. Suposedly this isnt a problem as they have a fleet of wedding hire taxis that have done around 800,000 and are on the original engine and gearbox.
Everything else will have been replaced within its working life in order to pass the annual, now 6 months carriage office test.
