Nope, it was a 5 door hatchback. He lightened the hell out of it and added nitrous - I think it managed a sub-6 second 0-60!

Ok, lots more to update on this just before the track day on Saturday:

The coilovers are on:

That pic was taken in the middle of fitting the new box, thats why the struts arent bolted up and the driveshafts are missing!

Gearbox out:

New box with LSD on:

Fitting the box was an absolute ballache, a faulty thrust bearing caused no end of problems and in the end it took 3 weekends to get to the cause of the problem, I cant remember how many time the box was taken off and put back on again!

Some interior shots, showing the new seats and steering wheel:

How it is looking on the outside, sitting on its new suspension:

The cams havent been fitted, the plan it to get a spare engine and then rebuild it over winter with various new parts, then fit the new cams with vernier pulleys and stand alone management to get the most from the engine.

I also have a 4 branch manifold to pick up at some point too.

Last jobs before the track day on Saturday are to bleed the clutch slave cylinder and the brakes, then its hopefully fun a plenty on Saturday.

Yep certainly do. Think some Evo or FTO brakes will be fitted when the cams / 4 branch and exhaust are done.

Yummy. Does it attach to the normal Momo boss hub?

Started getting quotes for Cat Cams adjustable cam pulleys to go with the cams - £196 + vat.

Also been looking around for ECU options to run the cams properly, currently thinking about a Greddy Emanage Ultimate set up, not going to be cheap though eek

Also found the cam profiles, they are the race / rally version, not the sport ones as I thought:

Duration - 281 / 273º
Duration - 241 / 233º
Max lift - 9.70 / 9.70mm
Lift at TDC - 2.55 / 2.10mm

Gearbox with LSD:

Did you install the LSD into the gearbox yourself? What kind of LSD it is?

Sorry, missed that part.
You wouldn`t happen to know the price range of cyborg gearboxes?
I have a Colt GTI rally car in Estonia and gearboxes are not easy to find around here.

Thanks. Arks

Well the sun is starting to come out again, which means its time to get the car back out again and get it ready for the first trackday of the year in June, the 6th to be precise.

Over the last few weeks I have been accumilating some new parts:

- Hotbits 4-1 stainless steel manifold
- Stainless steel de-cat pipe
- Exhaust manifold and cat gaskets
- Silicon ehxaust sealant
- Manifold wrap
- Oil and filter
- 4 more part worn R888's, but the wheels may be getting a lick of paint so these will be changed last minute

These bits are going to be fitted this weekend, so Ill update the thread with some pics of the new shiney bits next week.

Unfortunately the gearbox has sprung a leak too, but its only one or both of the driveshaft input oil seals, so Ive also ordered two new ones from a Proton dealer as a) they had them in stock, whereas Mitsubishi were on 10-14 days back order and b)they were cheaper than Mitsubishi. So once they turn up they'll be fitted too.

Then the tracking needs to be done, as it was towing in way to much at the last trackday.

Cant wait to get it all sorted and get back out on track now.

Had a busy Saturday.

Old manifold off:

New manifold:

On:

De-cat:

Didnt realise at first that the bracket that the old manifold uses to mount the heat shield on had to come off, as at first the new 4-1 was fouling on it and wouldnt mount up properly, but got there in the end.

Also got the new driveshaft oil seals done aswell.

Next weekend Ill do an oil and filter change, plus the wheels are going to see a lick of paint aswell.
