Indeed, sounds like it is really coming together Matthew.

Are you glad you went down this route, rather than getting another Mk2 16v?

cool day yesterday at Combe.

Just sorting the in car footage so there will be some vids to follow, only two though as the memory card filled itself up pretty quickly, leving only 5 mins for the the 3rd session, so I didnt record that one, which is a shame as it was my best.

Anyway things started off wet, the first session was at 9.45am.

Took the car for noise testing, it read 96db with the de-cat and 4 branch fitted so it passed the 100db limit no problems, it was 87db at the last one.

First few laps were to see how slippy the track was and get past a few of the slower cars as quickly as possible. A few laps in and I come across the first spinner, a black Cobra on the exit of Quarry, the 1st session video will show what happened, bit hairy!

The rain got a little harder towards the end of the session and I just couldnt hang onto the Mk2 Golf towards the end, but the car was definetly quick if a soft on the front end.

The rain stopped for the next one and by the time I was due out a full dry line had formed, so I dropped the tyre pressure down a bit (after raising them for the wet) and stiffened the suspension up a few clicks. The car felt much better (unsurprisingly as it was dry vs wet in the 1st), turn in was better and it felt more stable.

As I said I didnt video the 3rd one, but it was def my quickest session, had a nice tussle with an Integrale Evo who couldnt quite stick with me (I was carrying much more speed through the corners and chicanes inparticular, he may have been a bit more respectful of his car as I was really hammering the curbs) and gave a nice thumbs up when we pulled back into the pits.

Vids to follow when they're uploaded...
I think I may have been on track with you and the car good looked. I was out at about 14:15 and 15:15 in a black Boxster S.

Video of my first session here:

Yeh I think I am actually, Im really enjoying the Colt tbh, its proving pretty hand on track and so far pretty reliable too with no breakdowns yet other than the flexi pipe going (which to be fair looked original so it was 15yrs old). Its the little things like all the bolts coming undone easily, not roundning anything off and like I said the general pace and reliabilty, rev limiter at 8.5k is pretty cool too, it really sings with the de-cat and 4-1 manifold now.

Parts would have been more readily available for a Mk2 Golf, but I have been quite lucky in getting things like the gearbox with lsd, Gaz coilovers, 4-1 manifold and other bits off of the Colt and Proton Satria owners club.

Anyway, here's the 1st part video of the first session:

I was directly behind him on my second session (video uploaded) and I didn't see which way he went right from the beginning. As you say he is always there and always extremely fast!

Don't feel too bad about it Chris - he's done hundreds of laps and it is about 290 at the fly

Apparently so. Nice how you only find out after being prompted by someone on the internet. Haha.

Best go down the pub then. Or a bike ride.. or both. Hmmm
