Just a quick one I work as an insurance broker, and best bet go with an insurer that doesn't increase price when you pass your test! Therefore start on a provisional (low risk) when you pass your 1/2 way through your 1st year and that set closer to earning that yrs bonus! Simple safe and you will get imdemnified. oh note for everyone brokers not always more expensive as generally better 'terms' (excess, courtsey car, glass cover (that doesn't effect ncb))

Lastly remember all any 'voluntary excess + compulsory excess (And additional young driver) = TOTAL TO PAY
('Direct insurers will put the compulsory excess in the small print)

OK rant over, nice first car though better than my less than 1000cc fiesta it's only saving grace (or so I thought) was it had after market spot lights on.... all good until some nice bloke took a boot to them and I found them smashed on the street.

SXI lad – it was hard enough getting the car in the first place so ill give the swop a missbiggrin

Because of the type of car it is and my age some company’s wont insure me but I have found a company called ‘footman james’ who will and also seem very helpful.

I paid £2900 for it but if you were interested in a G32 I would advise you to keep a look out because there’s not many around

Oh, the car is an Ultima in the background, and PurlyRetro getting interested in kit cars again is such a bad thing!yes

I was wondering what insurance company you used so cheers for mentioning it, as I'll look into using them if I choose a kit car in the end.

Thats not a bad price when you consider i've seen them for about £3200 and up, still I'm after one.

In my opinion I don't think it is a bad thing, I'm aware there are costs that go with it and experience is needed in some parts. Please explain why you think it is a bad thing Ginetta kid, I would be interested to see what you would say.

oooops sorry, I should have said it isn’t such a bad thing banghead

But while were on the subject the early G32 does have a problem with chassis rust as the chassis was not galvanized.

Sorry about that though, I would highly recommend kit cars!!

I did get my car for a good price because as you say they are £3000+

I was thinking that was a bit odd from a kit car enthusiast, but hey was all say the wrong things at the wrong time.

Rust is the last of my issues, reliabiltiy might be a concern but they do use the Ford 1.6/1.9 CVH unit so I'm guessing it shouldn't be.

Is there anything else I need to be aware of about them?

If so drop me a email.

Do you get any NCD though? Reason I ask is that I have a policy with them (£100 fully comp - getting older ftw!) but don't get any no claims with it
