Nice power curve for a Turbo, with highly tuned engines you normally get a huge surge mid-range.

Whats the deal with the torque though? Peaks very very early then tails off?

Relatively small turbo unable to hold the same amount of boost to the red line, is my guess. Very good for the standard turbo though!

TFSI with the K04 (ED30, TTS, S3, Cupra FR etc.) does both very well! Oodles of torque and a nice revvy nature to boot.

Totally agree mate.. As much fun as I had in my CTR, I do love the nature of the Golfs engine.. Big massive shove midrange that doesn't tail off like a lot of Turbo charged cars do..
Do miss the lightness and chuckability of the CTR though, great fun..

Wouldn't really say it tails off massively. Most TC cars do that, unless they have a MASSIVE turbo.. It is still chucking out 300lb/ft @ 5k and 260lb/ft at 6k..
