5 door Golf GTi (originally an 8v) in Atlas Grey, slightly tweaked to give around 300bhp at the wheels. Since that photo I've put the number plate in the right place and swapped the headlights back to standard, a badged grill is next.

To answer the next 2 most common questions, no I didn't build it myself (although I have substantially rebuilt and remapped it) and yes you can get traction smile

Always good for a bit of AMG-bothering, it does 0-60 in around 5s and I haven't yet reached a speed where it was fully on-boost in 5th...

Also the daily driver:

2.2 10v Audi with full Scorpion 3 1/4" system, leather, sound system etc and Borbet As. You just can't beat a nice 5-pot rumble..

Thanks, definitely got a whole metallic-grey-German-cars-with-leather thing going on smile

Absolutely Audi sounds amazing, very very loud with the exhaust it's got but I smile every time I drive it. Not a fast car but definitely a true GT.

That Golf would be an ace sleeper if it was on the old BBS GTi rims! Totally stock looking... then BAM! Leaves you for dust!

That's next on the list, the wheels smile

Trouble is (and you can see it in the stance if you look closely) it's got Mk 3 subframes etc on it, so none of the original Mk2 wheels fit. Probably going to end up with Borbets or some nice BBS LMs..

Stealth is the word though, I've fitted G60 front arches to cover up the wider stance (vs GTi arches on the back), it's a 5 door, etc etc.

Very nice Golf indeed, any pics of it under the bonnet?
I dont like the wheels either, some LM's would look sweet on it.

She's more go than show right now, need to invest in some GUNK and a few more silicone hoses...

Ignore the orangey bits, that's where the FOR SALE writing got washed off, not rust smile

Props. I lusted long and hard over the prospect of a VR6'd mkII in my tender years (irony being that you tend to be old enough to have almost forgotten such crushes by the time they're logistically and financially within reach!). Spanking, sir, spanking - a salute from a(n almost) reformed dubber smile

I always wonder what on earth one of those drives like. Either hugely fun or epically bad (I'm not asking you to give an honest opinion, even if it was pants you'd still have to love something so.... normal yet not). Does it have power steering - odd question but?

I had a 16v before and this drives better. Quite apart from the faintly ludicrous bhp/tonne and the 3-inch-wider track it's lowered on coilovers and runs Eibach ARBs, corners like a dream with no understeer or dramatic oversteer, just the very controllable rear-wheel-cocked go-kart feel of the Mk2. This isn't a VXR8 engine in a Mk2 Astra, if you see what I mean smile

The Corrado's always managed with the VR6 and that's essentially the same car as mine - Mk2 chassis, Mk3 engine and front end, mechanically.

Hugely fun biggrin

Can't wait to get it on the track..

Power steering, yup.

Oh yeah (doh what a moron).

Although bit lower the Corrado shape and fitted with the 2 valve head not to mention no supercharger so bit lighter maybe?
Have you seen storm development's 500 (IIRC) bhp one of these? Saw it on dyno, rather nice. turbo not super.

Nice car, is it fitted with a LSD? Was always put off the VR6 conversion by the storys of the bad handling once fitted.
