Hello,

Im josh, 19 from the south, recently sold my Accord Type-R for something a bit newer/more sedate and went for an ST220.

(oh and both were paid for/insured & run by working hard - not daddy's money like some aholes!)

Prev car:

Managed to pick up a 2004 53 plate Saloon in Panther Black with only 35k on the clock, and I absolutely love it. The specification is incredible:
Metallic Black
Black heated leather Recaro seats (electrically adjustable)
Cruise Control
Sony 6CD Changer with steering wheel control and AUX
ESP
4 x Electric windows
Trip counter/MPG calculator
Heated front screen
Heated headlight/windscreen washers (!!)
Heated mirrors
Power fold mirrors
Illuminated footwells
Illuminated wingmirrors (so you dont step in a puddle!)
18” Alloy wheels
Different body styling
Sports suspension
And I’m sure there is more that I haven’t remembered!

I am really impressed with the way it drives, it’s a lot more sedate than my previous car, but it’s exactly what I was after. The pull from low down is exceptional, really throws you back in your seat in every gear. It holds the road very well indeed although I haven’t had a chance to test it fully because of the greasy roads.

Really chuffed and don’t regret swapping it at all, especially as I got such damn good price for the Accord! (More than I paid for it before the credit crunch!!!)

I got 31 mpg on the motorway run back from Wales where I bought it (170 miles) ,which I was more than pleased with, and about 20-25 around town which is really good and about what I was getting in the accord.

Modifications so far include a HID kit and a K&N 57i to give it a bit more grunt as the engine is a little quiet for a V6 IMHO.

Plans:
Parrot CK3000 car kit to be installed shortly
Pimp tints
Some better tyres! (Came with "Sava's" up front!
Potentially a car pc if i can ever be bothered to do it!

Here are some pictures:

Thoroughly recommend them, its only 20% of its RRP when new as well and not even quite 5 years old!

And yeah, i wasnt really bothered on the whole saloon/hatch differences when i bought one, but now i have the saloon i cant help but think i made a bloody good choice when i see a hatch!

Saloons always handle better than hatches due to the body being stiffer not having a great big hole at the back allowing the rear suspension to flex.

I love these, my housemate has a dark blue one (though a hatch, he needed it for the dog...) - just out of interest where did you get the K&N as he wants to get one and if you've got any good recommendations to pick them up cheap it would be awesome.

He also wants to know how the hell you got over 30mpg on a run in it - we managed 26.8 on a run all the way back from Birmingham!

Strange choice for a 19 year old in my opinion. Lovely though. Would like one myself if I could insure it!

Out of interest, how much are you paying at your age on a car like that?

Thanks for the comments, I know its an odd car for a 19 year old but it suits me down to the ground.

I managed to get insured on my ATR for £145 p/m and the ST220 for £170 p/m which i am more than happy with. I work in an insurance company (although i dont insure with them as they wont touch me!) and i see people my age insuring corsas for more!

I got the K&N from ebay, only cost £85.00 delivered and fits like a glove, i want to fabricate a heatshield for it for the summer though.

I bought my ST220 at a young age, people said it was a weird choice but I had to disagree. Can't stand Fiestas and the likes, I need power, handling and a bit of comfort! Keep seeing good offers on large cars like the Volvo S80 and its giving me a bad craving.

Do you have any sources to backup that claim? Not dis-agreeing, just looking for some closure wink

Ive always been the same since passing my test. Prefer more space/comfort.

Not sure about that comment on handling though but hey each to their own

Mk3 Mondeo wasn't out on an S plate... so guess it would be an ST24...?
