What I saw happen? A race, 60mph to 120 approx. Two friends of mine, both good drivers.
330 (which was auto) lost, manual might have won
I asked around about this. I have got it on pretty reliable authority that the ST also beats the manual 330i. Not off the line but from a rolling start.330 (which was auto) lost, manual might have won
I've heard of a dyno centre getting a bhp figure for a stock ST220 that was higher than a 330i tested on the same day, something like 10 more

I would be very surprised if it (st220) could beat a manual 330 of any version. I tried a 220 and it felt light on torque compared with a 330i.
I'm really not bothered which is quicker, but if you'd like to bring your 330 to the next Vmax (keep an eye on the forum over the year) then I'm happy to pay to bring along an ST220. Podie said:

I have experienced an E46 325Ci beat an ST200 in a straight line race, and not sure if the 220 is any quicker than a 200?
I'd suggest the 220 was quicker than the 200 - having owned both.re. difference between 325 and 330, it ain't huge on the road as the 330 has much longer gearing, my 330 auto pulls to 70mph in 2nd and it only revs at 6500, quite long imo so that's probably what hampers it a bit in a 'race'
to be honest! i love the st220 lots, think yours looks mega. i went bmw as i wanted rwd and auto, i'd of never bought a 325 though, not that they're bad, just wanted the 330!
enjoy it lots.
