Im picking it up in 2 hours. Stripes cant be removed today so booked in for wednesday, just got a couple of days to see if they grow on me.

Allen fords say they "mop" the top to bring back the paint to all one colour. Got it in writing aswell so im going to go for it.

I will be keeping the side stripes though.

Yeah, and put scratches on the paintwork for you in the process. Don't get them to do it. If you want them off, ask on FiestaSTOC. I'd leave them on, by the way. Looks too plain without them.

i would get rid of the stripes, dont think it looks plain at all without them but i would tell them in no uncertain terms that you will not put up with any scratching or damage caused by the dreaded mop.

There was a massive server move recently and it broke all the coding for the shop - we had the same issue on the Focus side. It *should* all be resolved now but bear with the chaps if it's not. It's been a major headache all-round but worth it in the long run for the improved server performance.. smile

As I understand it, 'mopping' removes a very thin layer of the laquer which is then re-polished and waxed.

the mop is an orbital polishing machine, (machine polisher) and in the right hand can be a very good tool on a cars paintwork, it is usually used after body repairs. in the hands of a monkey it is a paintwork killer.

Luke, I think Allen Ford are pretty much covering themselves in case there is an issue, and there are some marks left after removal.

Where abouts in Northants are you based?

ETA - check and see how much the stripes cost... you might be surprised!! wink

I really like the stripes on the Fiesta - it's small enough to make them 'work'. They don't look so good on the Focus though IMO.

Its unbelievable. I just found myself chuckling to myself the whole way home!

I actually enjoyed the drive to and from work today aswell biggrin

Managed 38 mpg this morning [Stuck behind traffic]
It currently at around 32 at the moment.

I will get some photos up shortly, although on the drive home, some guy was power washing the floor and sprayed a load of mud up the front of my car! What a johnson

I averaged about 28 in mine. It was slightly higher until I fitted a new air filter, which meant my foot got heavier because of the noise!

If not then here are a few below, mate popped over with his 197 this afternoon.

Im averaging around 28mpg at the moment, but enjoying every penny of the premium stuff.

He has just had a custom pipercross fitment last week for free as they have never had one before.
It roars off down the road like thunder, kinda got a subaru hint to it but is now very responsive.

Like these little Fords and think they work well in white, the side decals work well on the fiesta and focus, the viper stripes are quite literally over the top IMHO
