Are you going to learn to drive in this then without lessons? I had 8 lessons now had a go in the mini before I brought it certainly was rather different to the focus I am learning in was going to go for something more modern like this but would end up going to fast to get any enjoyment out of it just to civilised and easy for my tastes. smile Still for a first car is very nice compared to the 1.2 corsa's with 16v badges most people my age seem to have lol.
Nah, I'm just going out in it to learn basic stuff and to work on my technique. My first proper lesson is tomorrow, I'm learning in an '05 MINI Cooper! smile
Oh coolsmileprobably the best thing to do to be honest. I learn in a 03 focus has done 165,000 miles though so not exactly fresh but still a pretty nice drive although does not seem to be running very sweetly at low speeds even when the instructor was driving it did not seem very smooth lol. Would rather drive in a mini to be honest but my dad knows him so only costing £15 for 1 hour or £25 for 2 hours so cant complain really.

Pah, you should have learnt in a real Mini Cooper like I did. THAT my friend is learning to drive, no pas, hydraulic clutch, no abs etc. etc. :P Best of luck, and that Megane is a nice looking motor - enjoy it !

Thanks! I like it, anyway smile

And I would have loved an original Mini, but my mother refused on the basis that they're 'unsafe'. frown My dad has had 13 of them though!

Yeah I got the "Unsafe" talk too, and ended up getting another car based on my general refusal to get rid of the Mini. So she's SORN for now, until I finish uni, get her body sorted out. The prices are going up and up with the classics, so it should be a nice little nest egg/sunday toy. Do miss driving it a lot though...

As a fellow owner of a fat arsed Megane I congratulate you on a good first car smile 1.4 is a decent size for your first car with near enough 100bhp on tap. I started off with a 1 litre C1 with 69bhp and even that was great fun, you just had to rev it like crazy to get anywhere.

Good luck with your lessons.

Tell me. I want to know, but I don't want to know. I need to know. TELL ME! biggrin

Oh, and thanks for the compliments guys! I went on my first completely faultless drive today (no stalls or anything wink ) and although my mother was terrified, I think she FINALLY believes that I didn't much up in my driving lesson on Monday. She thought I was lying! But the MINI I'm learning in is soo much easier to drvie than the Megane.

Heavy, heavy clutch...
Just look in the Ownership Problems on the MeganeII Owners Club Forums, or even a quick Google search for faults. My front passenger window regulator has already gone, it's the most common fault that'll affect all Meganes at somepoint. Costs £350 to fix, but I'm doing it myself for much, much less than that.

And Tom, I'm just going to ignore the possibilities of faults until they actually happen. Mainly becuase the sunroof is one big, expensive problem waiting to happen (probably)... biggrin

Yup, hence I'm glad mines not got one, though I kinda do wish it had one, but hey. My window is faulty, the keycard that hasn't been chewed is faulty, as in, it'll unlock/lock the car but not start it and my boot doesn't unlock with the rest of the car, I have to press Unlock and then the Boot button Grrrr

I have none of these problems hehe Guess I'm lucky! 6 CD multichanger is still one of my fav bits, and I LOVE the sunroof, especially with the weather we've been having! Mine unlocks as it should, especially like the whole putting the key in your pocket and still unlocking the door thing, confused my friends! biggrin However, one of the key cards doesnt work frown It did, but then my sister took the battery out, put it back in and it refused to work after that!

Yeah, the 'whole' keycard worked fine, until I took the battery out...

My first car was a 1974 Dodge Challenger... got it as a gift, one of the best cars I've ever driven. I'm now drooling over this new army refit of the new Challenger, check it out:
