Anything to look out for on these in particular apart from the usual old car type stuff?

Just a quick note... with your standard BBS wheels its probably worth getting some auto glym 'alloy wheel seal' and spending an hour or so going over all the wheels (after you have cleaned them with a tooth brush!) basically means that most of the grime comes off with the hose rather than having to tooth brush them every time!!

Also if you interestedin a haynes manual... ive got 2 at home and no more E30's frown
Nothing I like more than spending all Sunday cleaning wheels with a toothbrush rolleyes

PM sent about the manual smile

Erm, from memory, the biggest job is the Cam Chain- mostly down to the cost of MB parts (circa £800- more if you replace the dizzy drive) Thankfully only due every 100,000miles

Exhaust down pipe is quite pricey, as you can't get an aftermarket one- I could'nt find one anyway.

Rear arches can rot out, as can the front- just behind the indicators
Basically, anywhere water can get in- i.e. behind the plastic bodykit.

Jacking points went on mine- around a rubber bung- again, nothing major & required some slight patching (Still, not bad considering the age of the thing & the mileage- over 200,000miles & still looking mint!)

Interior wise, the laptimers generally don't work- you can get replacements from MB but again, the costs involved!

The cloth seat bases can wear thin & tear- could'nt get a matching trim from any of the trimming companies i found- best solution was to use the headrest material for the seat base & recover the headrests with leather.

You coul do worse than PM PHer Pentoman for more info- he's had his (2.5-16) for a few years & done quite a bit of work to it...Could be of more help on then matter.

Definitely a no-no with the BK Racing 17" Alpina replicas. Keep the standard wheels on it.

Don't know why but loads of E30's seem to end up in Ireland? There's always a fair few in the classifieds from over the water.

That was quick! I'd been up to Chester to price up a new gear knob smile Was that you about to go into a house on Dawstone Road?

It'd be interesting to see what the old thing is putting out. Still feels pretty quick to me but this is the only one I've driven.

It could have either been me or my friend that you saw, I watched you pass. I stood there puzzled unsure as to whether or not it was you! The 'GLT' later gave it away!

I helped deliver to Pipers lane today, the 'beast' is under covers... makes me wonder whats in the garage rolleyes

I'll be taking the 1293 for a tune up at Dyno Demon when its complete and running, I was quoted around the £100 for a set-up thumbup

Hi Ben, you will have to have a good nosey at the mini also. It would be good to get a PH meet based locally, if something can be arranged?

You'll have to make the trackday motor road legal wink

I would be up for that, depending on whether I manage to get a car or not... the insurance is holding me back at the moment.
