Hi folks, just a quick topic to show off my 1994 Mazda RX7 twin turbo.

Previously owned an EK Civic, wanted something turbo and RWD without going down the 200SX route, and likewise didn't want to fork out insurance for something like an EP3 Type-R or Skyline.

Anyways, bought it pretty much standard - was imported in 2003, i bought it with just over 50K on the engine without a rebuild. I'm happy to say it's just covered 66,000 miles, still no rebuild and i've only owned the car since last August - used daily for 5 months solid, what rotary problems? biggrin

Over the time i've done a few bits to it, came with filters/exhaust and so far i've fitted a set of Cusco height/dampening adjustable coilovers, Rota 'Grid' wheels (18x9.5in, 18x10in) alongside a set of AtomicRex side skirts and rear diffusor.

Nice and useable, fast, reliable (touch wood) and seems to confuse a lot of people without badges... that and having green wheels!

Thanks,

-Mark

Cheers guys smile

I've not dyno'd it, realistically nothing crazy - it's got a set of Apexi filters, AutoExe exhaust with de-cat and an AutoExe chip, so i'd hazard a guess around the 280-290bhp mark. Feels nice and smooth though, hasn't got the 'thump' of a similar power Impreza/200SX but at the same time they haven't got powerbands going from 2000rpm-7800rpm smile

Looks good, I really like the low stance, de-badge and lack of rear wing. I actually like the green wheels too, didn't think I would.

Your guess is as good as mine haha!

Being 20 with 3 years no claims an EP3 Civic Type-R came in with some scary quotes upwards of £1800... third party!

The RX7 came in at under 1K for the full year, with modifications declared. I guess they're quite unusual cars and not generally bought by little oiks like me, as opposed to Type-Rs and Skylines which get written off every hour.

I LOVE the 'Grid' wheels. They just look stunning. I really would love an rx7 so it's going on the list.

Very nice car.

Thanks for the comments!

Stew-S160, it's not too bad to be honest. it's no worse to 'drive' than with the suspension being higher, the tyres tuck within the arches so no scrubbing occurs. You need to take speed bumps a bit lower, but even when it was at standard ride height it's not really advised to bash over 'em at 30 biggrin

TankRizzo, may i apologise now not only for this upcoming weekend but the fact you had to meet him in the first place haha! At least you haven't got a week in Ibiza with the fool...

Couple more side/rear pics showing the diffusor and sides:

Nice car - I remember your name from Digimods back in the day! I didn't even have a car then.

I've gone Jap too, although not quite a pretty and hardcore as that - I love the lines of the FD.

Not a big fan of Ricers- although I do like subtle JDM lookers and I must say that looks brilliant. Nice work- a very cool ride.
