Nice set of pics - thought this was interesting to see how differently the engines are placed. The M3's is a lot further back in the chassis than the RS4.

4wd for the Audi the need to get the Driveshafts from the gearbox to the Front wheels.

Audis of old had the engine set very far forward, but in this case it could be that the BMW is designed with a longer bonnet than the Audi in order to accomodate their inline six cylinder engines which are much longer than a 4 cylinder or a V8.

Yup. So far it's never got stuck in the snow, even driving it throughout last winter. The Quattro system is astonishing yes
