Thought I might chuck this up

MY01 S3. Silver with black leather trim, 30% tint and sunroof
Eibach springs with Bilstein shocks all around
BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox
full custom (remus muffler) exhaust
DBA brakes with EBC pads front and rear
Haldex Controller
Poly bushes all around
APR engine mounts
Some tasty cams that were kicking around. Mmmm, lumpy.

About to fit:
Samco hoses (intercooler + turbo)
Revo chip
Forge Diverter Valve
I'll get some photos up soon, but the best thing is it doesn't look like much at all.

fair point. Was waiting on some from a hoon on the weekend, but they are taking an age to make it off people's cameras.

Action shot.

I'll get some engine shots today

Cheers. Really happy with it.

Except the intercooler hose keeps on collapsing. Ordering some Forge, Samco or APR silicon induction hoses soon to stop that. After the cam work it hits about 4,500 and just loses the power sometimes. Some nice blue pipes will lift the current naked engine bay.

Once I've fitted these last bits and pieces I'll keep it another year then trade up to an S4 I guess.

Not bad, not bad at all. Once I do the last couple of things (chip in particular) I'll be dynoing it to see what I'm putting out/ It's been tracked a couple of times and with some nice Kumho KU36s it grips like all buggery and with the suspension and haldex controller understeer has pretty much been elminated.

And then I can chuck the street rubber back on, turn up at client meetings and they don't look at me like I've just crapped in their shoes like if I turned up in a WRX with the same mods

Just ordered Forge intercooler and turbo intake pipes, an APR R1 Diverter Valve and a N75J valve for it.

the original turbo pipes are shocking... could press them in with one finger!! Its strange how they originally use the 2 small intercoolers where that is that large gap behind the bumper. is the haldex controller a 'must have' mod?? i was told i needed one to get mine rolling roaded as otherwise the 4x4 freaks out and thinks its sliding or something.

Nah, wasn't me, Parra Rd isn't my area.

Yeah, I can't believe how crap the standard hoses are - I've got mine collapsing when it hits boost now so really need to get under the bonnet.

Just had a full detail done so it's all nice and shiney so might update the photos tommorow.

Not being funny here, but how can a boost pipe collapse when it has positive pressure in it? That's like saying that tyres collapse under load when you put air in them :S If anything they must balloon and then break off the joint?!? Once the throttle is released, then there is neg pressure i.e vac and then they 'could' suck flat, but by this time the throttle is closed so no impact is made on the engine.

VXR OE hoses are weak, most replace them with 3-4 ply Samco hoses. Most just do it because it makes the bay look prettier as well. biggrin But still, i don't understand the logic there about the collapsing on boost.

I've got EBC Yellows on my VXR.. cold they are OE quality, as soon as they are warm, they are great. I've heard horror stories too, but in truth, i've not found any of them to be true

turbo's suck in air?? therefore pre-turbo it has vaccuum in it.

Not the best - the DBA are good but yeah, I'll look at something else next time around.

The boost pipe is a common issue, I can't give you an explanation, but there are videos of it.

Checking out a custom Unitronic tune now.
