Also keen on changing the rack, though happy to leave this a while so I can change the track rod ends and everything involved, am I right in thinking a z3 rack bolts straight on, whereas the e36 needs a steering adapter?
The Z3 rack will bolt straight on a E36, but fitting either rack on a E30 will require a small bracket to be made.I've got a spare E36 rack if you want: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/876832.htm
Already having lots of fun Had a bit of a cleaning session today with the two...
I removed the mudflaps, and pleased with the cleaner look, I also removed about 6 kilos of mud (not joking) from the rear arches alone I bet its been there a few years!
Then a mate came round and we went out tonight for a bit of a blast, mini hoon Stopped by the local(ish) BMW dealer to take pics...
I've got the "BMW Approved Used: Approved by us, Enjoyed by you" as the background on my phone now, it looks awesome
Now I've had it a few days, I think I've formulated a decent plan for it, in no particular order;
The passenger window still blows a fuse occasionally, but when we stopped to change it this evening, some very nice ladies stopped and offered to help... may leave that *particular* fault for a while and change it more often
Cheers for reading

Now I've had it a few days, I think I've formulated a decent plan for it, in no particular order;
- Lowering: Eibach -40mm springs and bilstein B8 dampers, I think.
- Exhaust: Not keen on the angled pea shooter, I think a 3" straight exit or slash cut thin walled tailpipe, hopefully a scorpion or supersprint unit. Will probably end up "customising" the tailpipe till I'm happy with it so not really an issue, plus it needs to growl a bit more, feels like it's all caged up atm!
- Crosshair & black projector cover... basically, smoking the headlights
- Smoked/clear indicators and repeaters (can't decide between the two atm)
- Rear lights: Not sure, to be honest, would like the standard ones, with the indicator clear but afaik they aren't available, so I can either smoke the standard indicators (want to retain the red) but worried this will be too dark, and I don't fancy the "crystal" units from eGay and the likes, hmmm... Red is an option, but MOTs become difficult with the non orange indicators then
- Wheels: Trying to find 15" BBS, no luck atm, but think this will smarten the car up a fair whack, especially when lowered. May try and get some split BBS or different alloys (would love some work equip 01's... but nice wheels = money )
- Central locking: have a new C/L ECU on its way so fingers crossed it'll soon be sorted!!

Right, slight update
I had a slight incident with a hump back bridge, when we went out to test the Eibach suspension... we tested it alright , anyway, as a slight downside, the uber rare iS splitter parted ways with the car, and though it took us a few minutes to realise and check, it was thankfully there when we returned... Little bit scuffed and one slight crack.
Anyhow, repaired that, primed etc and just waiting to get some Alpineweiss II from BMW Also, painted my rear spoiler black, as the old paint was cracking and hazed, and I wanted to make it stand out a bit more
Really not sure whether or not to get rid of the pinstripes on the side, dad reckons they look good, I think they make it look a bit dated :S will have to think about that a bit more. Still after some 15" BBS' for it, watching a set on eBay atm
In other news, I sold the rallye on sunday it had been a fun 3 years of ownership! From L plates to my first trackday, it took it all in stride and I'll miss her sold to another rallye register user so it should remain in good hands
Opinions on the stripes please

Take the M Badge off it, it's not an M Division product. And anyone who does know the significance of such a badge will know it's not M either.
Other than that, what a fantastic car. A very different beast to the normal 318, indeed a much better engine.

Its good yeah, bit uneven on the mixed 14" tyres, can't wait to get some lower profile rubber on some 15"'s no LSD either so breaking traction is quite easy, especially spinning up the inside wheels off roundabouts
Otherwise, its really good
no LSD?? didnt he is come with one standard or was it an option?? learn something new everyday i guess!!Otherwise, its really good
With your central locking.. have you sorted it yet?? i used to have no end of trouble with my remote central locking on my 325 sport,spoke to the previous owner. He said to take off the large loom in the door and spray with WD40.... worked a treat! aparently he used to do it every few months.
I'm desperate for another E30!
Yeah, they weren't standard, but a lot had them added from new apparently
Central locking, drivers door and boot works, fuel filler and passenger not so, me and dad are going to tackle it at the weekend but the passenger door plug does seem a likely culprit!
Ordered a few bits from eBay for it last night, can't wait to get them fitted!

Righto, another slight update, went out to give it a clean (and its nice and shiny again, spoiler looks good ) and took the M badge off... It was held on with some weird cement like stuff, a bit like really tough body filler... can't for the life of me get it off
I'll PM garlick about suing PH collectively, you all told me to do it!
oh and re: the central locking debacle, after a quick wire wiggle, the fuel filer locks!
