Well done to get the correct bolts for the doors on the 72. I know you hate that kind of thing but still strangely satisfying and the first thing I look at when inspecting a car. They vary quite a bit from year to year.
Yes, whilst I’m not completely originality obsessed, there’s a few detail bits that bug me. This is one! My car has 964/993 doors (no rust and side impact bars!) so I had to swap out the body side of the hinges for early ones to get the recess they go in.

I’ll also be putting new door pins in once they go back on for the last time.

Very well done, that's a superb job, and a tremendous effort to get this far. I'm looking forward to seeing it painted, and then you can get on with the good bit - fitting lots of shiny new or refurbished parts to the as-new shell.

Good luck, thanks for the updates, and very best wishes for the next stage.

Fantastic!! Mine is not long back on the road after a seven plus year lay up. So good to be back behind the wheel.

It’s not quite in your league Gary but I’ve finally got my own 911, albeit a 996.

No need to apologise for a 996.
One day people will get over it being the first water cooled and realise it's rather good!
My best mate has a 996 tip/cab. Nominally the worst car in existence if you believe the internet, but with the smaller addition of a fruity pipe it's great.

Enjoy! (and lets hope the engine doesn't let go like his did...;))

Well it's on its second! laugh This one is a later 3.6 so at least has the later IMS fitted. It's also had a pretty meticulous oil change regime so fingers crossed. I just figure that a) I'm not getting any younger and b) 996 prices have already started to climb out of my reach so it was now or never and I've wanted one for over 35 years.
