The finished article (metal anyway!):

Compared to many of Barry's works my car is (quite deliberately) missing some detail points for the concours judges, as they add nothing for a 'driver' other than a order of magnitude cost step.
Panel fit is not one those missing things smile
Of course it still needs a touch of filler but the basics are all there.

I got up at 02:30 this morning for a day trip to get it. Got home at 17:30. Rained every mile...

Aquaplaning on the motorway whilst towing (at only 50mph) focused the mind on the way back and almost required clean trousers smile

Certainly great to have it home for the holidays. Just need to resist the temptation to get the wire brushes out on Xmas day!

Borrowed car and trailer combination did brilliantly again.

That looks awesome! My wife would have to lock the garage up to keep me away from it over Christmas!

Well given the current climate, and the 8 day isolation notice she received tonight I might get out there smile

Happy days! It’s all about compromise in a marriage, so there’s some wriggle room there smile
All joking aside I’m really looking forward to progress on this.

Cheers gents, happy Xmas to all.

After dropping it in the garage late on the 23rd then doing drinking I finally got out this afternoon for a few hours.

My door gap obsession continues...

After Barry put quite so much work into the gaps I took it upon myself not to mess them up.

He recommends one wet coat of etch prime and do them up to be left forever, anymore and they go out of alignment.

So as extra security I also pinned the hinge location before releasing one at a time whilst supporting the door to clean, prep, and prime the outside then swiftly rebuild with a coat of primer on the mating surfaces with the pin giving that confidence they were in the right place.

Then it was time to pull the closures and bumpers off.

The shell is now back in its favourite place (after hours of fighting with engine cranes, jacks and general violence) on the rollover jig.

Next step is to get the trolley into the garden, remove some flash rust and put some 2K epoxy paint on it. Just the insides and underneath, but this will keep me busy for a while!

So am I, some way to go yet!

I’ve found a bit around the top of the RH 1/4 that was missed in the final late nights before Xmas, so it’s back out with the welder today! Thought I’d finished that bit...
