Great photography, slightly off topic but have you treated the images in photoshop? If so how? Were they taken with a decent SLR?

Hey Jackal,

what was the cost one of these?

Thiking about scratching the cheap as chips to run/maintain fun to drive hatch itch again, and your words have tempted me to give these another chance after I wasn't really impressed with a 182...
i picked this one up for 2.5k which is pretty cheap for a 2003 car (a ph1 2001 car will be 2500-2570 at a dealer) but its quite leggy

Nice. Looks quite tidy on 15s' thumbup

Bit surprised you got one with a boy-racer exhaust. Good on you for entering into the spirit of things though! wink

I believe a Grp N chip raises the rev limit. Have you bounced it off the limiter yet? 7.5k is standard limit in upper gears if my memory serves correctly.
yeah, mods anint my style but i just liked the look of this one and although the lowering springs make it a bit bouncy, it does make the body feel really tightly controlled which is quite pleasing

and yes, i think the rev limit might be raised.. will have to test it out when i can. I took it to hastings for the weekend and it managed 36mpg average which was really suprising (12mpg better than the Volvo !) but family all aboard so didn't get the chance to redline it. Have to say though, of everything ive driven it definitely seems like the true successor to the 205 Gti... it posesses that slightly manic, fun attitude and really is a jumped up little lightweight terrier.

not sure as its been lowered so its kind of swings and roundabouts

i did drive a number of standard cars and the springs definitely make quite a big difference

the smaller rims, large profile rubber would definitely make for a slightly suppler ride though with more absorption but they would also make the car feel slightly less precise as well

Mine had Spax adjustables fitted by the previous owner and on the right road it was fantastic, and, as you say it feels like a slighty more modern 205 Gti and in keeping with the original hot hatch ethos - something that is lost with the most of, if not all, of its modern rivals.
