Scaffolding poles + old VW bits + Rotary engine....
Discussion
No, the project isn't dead, it's just been a long time of tedious checking, rehecking and tweaking/mounting work, so I thought I'd wait until there was something more interesting:

Sorry about that, Santa might bring you a better video if you're lucky.

Yes, to get back to a rather more sobering part of the thread - now I've had a bit of fun - there's water in it, oil in it, it all lights up, powers on and turns over....but when you wind it over to build pressure in the oil system before starting, it weeps oil out - there's a hairline crack in the block we've never spotted where a sensor has been wound in by the Incredible Hulk on a good day after having Weetabix and spinach for dinner.
It's something we can fix given it's location is by a boss rather than the block proper - albeit something that resulted in a lot of very unhappy faces at the workshop yesterday night as we were so close - but everything has already been stripped out of the way and the TIG welder and a lathed boss will sort it one way or the other tommorow, fingers crossed.
So yes, I was trolling, but only because I don't have the rest of the video, I'm not quite cruel enough to keep that from you
However, if/when fixed, it's an hour of bolting bits back on and we'll give her a crank, see if my mapping is up to firing her first time

Finished is a rather flexible concept around here full stop
There's at least a month more work in it tidying up bits and pieces and making sure everything is bedded in then stripped and checked, but we'll get a few test runs in before that happens.

No luck with the startup video today - the engine is back on the bench as yesterday's repair was still allowing oil back through - the block casting is pretty tricky to weld with a lot of dirt and oil coming through, it's took all day of grinding out, refilling and rinse and repeat to remove the porosity that was turning up - try again tommorow!
Very brief snapshot as we were just tickling it over for 20 seconds or so to find leaks - have a few as you can hear from the intake squeak, plenty of issues to sort out but I'll go over that later as it's been a long night!

Knew there was a reason for staying up so late! Sounds good Phillip, that engine bay looks fairly full though.
Exhaust is rather warm too Some wrap may be in order.
My base map must be fairly decent as once I'd sorted out some issues with the crank sensor it fired straight to life, unfortunately we have the headgasket weeping from the front corner so a bit more work ahead yet, and the throttle pot is a duff one so we'll have to get another on order - hence no throttle blips and the crap video!
